My LSX swap - 1991 Z28 convertible
I've got a pretty in depth, time and money consuming project underway with my convertible. I'm putting a 6.0 LSX and a T56 in the car to compliment everything else I have modified on the car.
Details on the swap: 2000 6.0L LQ4 from a Silverado 2500HD -forged and teflon coated Mahle pistons -forged Eagle rods -Clevite bearings -ARP hardware -Texas Speed 228R (228/228 .588/.588 112LSA) -317 casting heads -PAC dual valve springs -LS6 intake (still need to buy, have an LS1 intake in case I run out of money though) -balanced and blueprinted And of course, the T56 M6 transmission. As of right now, the block is completely torn down and just got sand blasted on Monday. It's staying at the machine shop for assembly, balancing, and blueprinting. It is getting bored, honed, and decked and will be ready for heads very soon. I worked out a nice deal to get the forged internals bought for me in exchange for some paint and body work on a 1989 Formula. I should have the motor blueprinted and assembled later this month. Here's just a few pictures of the progress: ![]() ![]() ^^^^^ Most of those parts are for sale due to me not being able to use the accesory drive, intake, and exhaust for the swap. ![]() ^^^^ after the sand blasting. You should have seen the bottom side of the block before it got worked on. It looked like it came out of a salt truck.

Hahaha, yea we're actually getting hitched on the 23rd. I haven't made much progress on the block because my time has been spent fixing up our new house to get ready to move in.
![]() I'll post pics of the car later, I'm posting from my phone right now and it would take forever to copy the image links from photobucket and put em' in here haha

I don't like them either. They don't flow well with the body lines on the front bumper.

Well I can see that this thread needs a little updating:
Here's the parts list for the block, which I will be getting back sometime next week. I am finishing up a paint job on a 1996 Trans Am for a friend and once he picks it up, my car will go back to the garage and not come back out until it's a fire-breathing monster! Parts list: -MS4 cam -milled, cleaned, heads with valve job -PRC dual valve springs, titanium retainers -Melling race oil pump -Scorpion rocker arms -hardened pushrods -new GM / new hardened bolts; Cometic head gaskets -Mahle forged and teflon coated pistons -Eagle forged rods -10% underdrive balancer pulley Here's a piston: ![]() And one of the rods: ![]() I also picked up a few other nice pieces, a Spohn T56 crossmember for LS1 swapped 3rd gens, a set of 42# injectors, and a Professional Products adjustable fuel regulator. My machine shop is shopping around for a T56 for me. We may have found the perfect candidate, a 50,xxx mile 2002 T56 from a WS6, complete with shifter, flywheel, clutch, master and slave cylinders, etc. I will know in a month or so if I will be able to purchase it. I will update again when the beastly motor is back in my possession, and again when I get the old 305TPI out of the car. I cannot wait!!!

Hey Nick, keep us updated on your swap cause I'm looking into doing it myself in about a year or so. I've seen your car over at TGO and gotta say man, it is one sweet ride. Congrats on getting married by the way.

Thanks man, I will definitely keep you all in the loop. In fact, I have to update this again as of today, because I got more pictures sent to my phone from the shop. The shortblock is assembled, and you can see the work they did on the face of the block where the heads go, it's all shiny
My plan is to pick it up next week and start pulling the old one out!![]()

I'm good, how about you? I'm having a bunch of Camaro/Firebird people over on saturday, what are you doing? We're doing a BBQ and going to a car show that night in St Charles.

I got some LS1 motor mounts (clamshell mounts) for free. I posted up on LS1tech looking for some and got a response after a record-breaking 2 minutes! They should be here by Monday.
