order coming in with wrong wheels

I just found out my Black Z is coming without the black wheels I ordered. Dealer got the invoice and that is when he noticed it.
I really don't think the dealer is going to do anything to make it right. He offered to order the black wheels at cost. Getting a price now. If I take the car what are the odds of finding someone to trade wheels? Anybody out there that has the black wheels want to trade? If I pass and reorder I will have to wait for a 2013.

IMHO, you're getting the better looking wheels on the ZL1. I know this "murdered" out crap is all the rage in the last few years, but I think it makes the ZL1 look somehow cheaper, for lack of a better word.

there are people buying cars on the ground so in time you may find somone. do you hate the style of the wheel?

the wheels are going to expensive at cost even.

it does not cost much to have the wheels powedercoated black. i would make the dealer do that if you don't hate the design. I would make him eat the cost and powdercoat the 5 spokes black. then accept this car.

you could even two tone them like the carbon concept or something.

The Black Wheels are standard....so does the invoice you are seeing show the extra cost for the polished 5 spoke wheels?

If not you're getting the Black wheels.

The dealer must have specifically ordered the polished wheels by mistake for you not to be getting the black ones...seems kinda weird to me

Well IMHO It really doesn't make it look cheaper....it makes it look more agressive.

Still, it would be a boring world if we all agreed on everything

If the dealer screwed up then the dealer should order the correct wheels at no charge to you. Their mistake not yours why should you have to pay anything.

so what does your invoice say. black rims or no. i thought they were standard on the zl1 and your had to request the other ones. i would be pissed especially if u wanted the black ones. you know anybody else locally that ordered a zl1 and you can look at there invoice

...yeah, you hit the nail on the head saying for "lack of a better word".... Is it vogue with the blacked out look these days...perhaps, it's different, and I for one like it....being from the SS Crager days..., but....."murdered" out is a bit harsh won't you agree?

I take that as a insult...I happen to think the black is sharp as hell

I really don't think anything on the Z looks cheap....

I too agree that the black wheel look is played out. Not to mention I wouldn't want a car like a ZL1 with black wheels yet an RPO stating polished.

Wow..... why are people hating on a certain wheel options?? People have different tastes period. To me the black wheels make the ZL1 stand out and seem more aggressive. The polished wheels make the ZL1 look like a modded SS from a distance. That being said they both look good, variety is the spice of life.

Man this Lambo looks cheap with black wheels.... Too Slow can you put some bling on them for me

I think we have gotten off topic. OP, does it say on your order that black wheels were chosen by you at the time of ordering? Is that how I understand it?

Does the window sticker online read like this?

EXTERIOR

REAR SPOILER
DAYTIME RUNNING LAMPS
FRONT FOG LAMPS
20" FORGED ALUMINUM
HEADLAMPS, HIGH INTENSITY DISCHARGE
HEATED PWR OUTSIDE REARVIEW MIRRORS W/DRIVER AUTO DIMMING
HOOD, ALUMINUM WITH PAINTED CARBON FIBER HOOD INSERT

This is what mine says and it's coming with black wheels. It says FORGED ALUMINUM but does not specify black. Does yours say POLISHED and have the extra charge? If not you're getting black.

Same issue here --

I told dealer what I wanted and he said that was car he had ordered for stock. I took him at face value, and when I saw charge for wheels it did not click that they were polished wheels.

I think the polished rims look really plain/cheap and do not fit the character of the car.

Anyhoo, dealer's cost is about $670 each. There are some ordered for my car though they are, naturally, backordered. 30-60 days.

So, my car (black/carbon/six speed) sits in my garage under a car cover.

I ordered a skip shift defeat solenoid and will do some other details, but I am not driving it until it makes me happy.

You make a quote expressing the hate for black wheels and then use my post? I'm sorry that everything comes with black wheels and that many people refer to them as being murdered out. Honestly though even if they did look good with the way GM paints wheels they'll be a 50/50 split between black and poslished in 5K miles.

Tell the dealer to order what was agreed on, then tell him about Camaro5.com. He will sell them in a heartbeat at no loss!

I do like both and ordered the polished at first, but after looking at the black car with black wheels it looks awesome. I have put polished on every car/truck I have owned and like that look. I to really thought the black wheels would be more for the younger guys that like that look over the polished. Once I saw Drakes pic's that sealed the deal for me and I knew I made the right choice for me. Then found out my car was shipped with polished wheels. I'm sure the dealer will not do much because he can't get another car. This will be the last 2012 he is getting. He is getting a price on the black wheels and I'm checking on power coating. I'm sure he will sell right away if I don't take it. Who knows I may love the polished once I see it in person. It will be hard to walk away after waiting this long but also hate to wait this long and not get what I want. Should know shortly

They should get you what you want. After all, the customer is the dealer's bread and butter. The polished looks best on the dark colors imo. On black both look good, black being the more aggressive looking imo.

Im not sure I understand the term "aggressive looking" as it pertains to wheels on a car?

Wheels are at least 50% of the eye appeal of any car. The black is awfull.....IMHO.
