Transmission Hung Up in Lower Gear

So I was driving my 2010 SS to the next town over on Sunday and my transmission did something a little strange. I had my cruise on at 95 and I came to an area where the speed dropped down to 50. I stepped on the brakes fairly hard (I was playing), and while the car slowed I didn't notice anything funny.

Then I was thru the area and started to pick up speed to 65 and I heard some extra noise. That's when I realized that the trans was "stuck" in a lower gear. I was just going around 55 at the time and my foot wasn't in it, bt I was turning about 3300 rpm. I let off the gas and gave it some gas and after a few cycles, it seemed to sort things out.

Everything seemed fine on the way home. I was only going 80 and now hard stops.

Any ideas? Did it just get confused or should I be concerned?

Thanks,
-Bob

The auto transmission tries to anticipate what you're doing and will occasionally 'hold' a gear for a while. For example, go around a corner with a little zip and it'll hold the gear for several seconds before shifting.

Tranny Hung Up

Three of Swords,

Thanks for the reply. Guess I shouldn't worry.
