2012 camaro ss in sport mode went to netural on 1st to 2nd shift

I was driving my 2012 camaro ss automatic today and had to pull out in traffic and get on it pretty hard and I had it in sport mode so I gunned it but not from a dead stop but rolling around 5 to 10 mph and when it shifted to 2nd its like it went into netural and I wasnt using the tap shifters on the sterring wheel has anyone else had this problem with the auto.

I tried it again in sport mode and got on it pretty hard and it seemed to be fine so I dont know what that was all about, The car only has 650 miles on it.

Did you let off the gas for a second? They hold the gears purposely for road racing
