Ok, so I've been telling myself I was going to wait till later this year to buy/order a Camaro.... but I just want one sooner than that now!! I won't have nearly as much saved for a downpayment, but I can dealer with the larger payments.

My original plan was to wait till January and get my taxes done. I bought a house this year, so I'll be getting the nice $8,000 tax credit for that. So with that, I was going to pay off whatever is left on my Focus at that time, and I'd have money in savings for a downpayment (around 5,000 or so by then).

But... if I just go and order one now, I've been told I'd get it in October or so

So that would give me 6 months to save up a little bit of cash, and I think I'll still owe around... 6,000 on my Focus by then. Am i crazy? Do I need an intervention?

I -think- I remember reading that you could amend your 2008 return to claim that credit sooner rather than wait till next year. Ask your friendly neighborhood tax professional to see if that's true

If so, there's your Focus payoff and a little toward a Camaro

No, you're not crazy... that's EXACTLY what I did! I ordered now so that in 6 months I will have a beautifully sized down payment for the car of my dreams
