Love that pistol grip! Mine came with the V* pattern even thow I specifivally asked for the v6. Did n;t care if I had to pat extra just wanted it so I would not have to wait! I just emailed Tracy to see what to do and I will call Hurst up in few.
I like the look of the retro but also the pistol grip! Any preference\pros\cons to either one?

Thanks!

In the drivetrain sponsor section ( http://www.camaro5.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=95 ) we have a thread with different shift knobs you can take a look at.

Any reason to pick one over the other? Pros\cons! Besides looks!

Waiting to hear back if I can make an exchange!

I love the retro look of the big white cue-ball, but I had some surgery on my shiftin' hand and it just felt awkward after that.

Decided to try Hurst's "Hard Drive" stick- but hated the handle it came with.

My pistol grip is a couple pieces of aluminum stock and a pair of grips from .45 S&W. I need to spend a little more time at the bench grinder to get the contours better.

GM should have put the Hurst in it from the factory. It's precise and crisp. It's way better than the clunky one it came with. I havent gone into reverse instead of 1st again.

Well due to __________(insert lame excuse) Hurst short throw install didn't happen. But I did get these on last night.

They are sequential LEDS. They look pretty cool. 182.00 on eBay. Now just need to order the black bezels. A. They'll look better IMO and B. I scratched the inside right rear taking it off.

I want to get one of theses but I would like to see the shorter shift throw 1st before I buy. Does anyone have a video before install and after install of the shift throw?? Or maybe someone can just tell me the difference. Also is the 1st gear easier to get to then the factory shifter?

It would be harder to do without a lift, but not impossible. Ramps under the front wheels would work ok. Just wait for the exhaust to cool! 15mm bolts that hold the rear trans mount need to be loosened around 1/2".

Those look awesome SIXJAK!

I've been looking at those tail lights on Ebay myself.

On a side note, I'm planning on ordering my Hurst STS soon, but I will have my dealership install it.

There are 2 torx screws that hold them in under the rubber shift boot. I cut the boot a little to get a socket in there to undo them . I didnt replace them. You have to undo them of the stock shifter will not come down on the V6 . The directions are extremely vague on how to release the springs.

Is it still functional if you dont replace the springs??

The install took 45 mins. I jacked up one of my chrome bezels. It's always the guinea pig i.e the first one. I ordered the black bezels which I think will look way better anyway. Those should be here any day.

what's the deal with the rattle problem Hurst was causing? I know plenty of folks in the past that was furious because of rattling issue.

Chevy originally offered these in new cars and I think those guys were expecting "factory" level sophistication. A performance shifter will not be silent at all times!

However, I didn't use any of the stick-on vibration dampers and my Hurst rarely hums and never rattles.

It also centers just fine and functions normally without the "centering" springs.

In exchange you get short, precise throws and alot more driving satisfaction...
