what wax will u be treating your ZL-1 with

just curious , especially from other florida owners as its love bug season down here. i may have to wax my car right away at the dealer before i drive it back because i have about 50 miles of the worst love bug zones to drive through and it will be at full kill by my delivery day next week. i was thinking turtle wax ice or maybe zymol water based wax. i usually use the mcquires but when i ran out last time i decided to use something less white.

I use nothing but Ice products ... Just did the wife's car yesterday, preping it for trade in ... I have been a Turtle Wax fan since the 60's, and in my book if it ain't broke don't fix it.

I'm in the City of Seminole, it's in Pinellas County. As far as the love bugs, they come off rather easy with soap and water. I use the liquid wax every couple months and finish off every wash with the detail spray. Both my cars are kept outside 24/7 and the finish on them is like butter. The only time we really deal with heavy bugs is when making a trip to Ocala every couple months.

I tried using Eagle One Nano Spray on Wax for the first time. I have done it twice now. It has left a nice shine and I like that I do not have to worry about leaving a white residue on non-painted areas. In fact I use it on the black plastic areas of the front grill, side aero pieces and rear diffuser as well. It makes them more black and the water beads up on them as well as the paint. Absolutely no white residue or smearing. It takes me about 30 minutes to do the car after I dry it. It goes on and off as easy as a liquid detailer but is a wax with Carnuba and other things. So far so good. About $6.50 per bottle.

There's a paste wax called Classic Slipstream Carnuba that some guys use on their aircraft. It's a LOT of work if you're doing it by hand & it's messy with a LOT of powdery residue, but it gets the "job" done & lasts. I busted myself up pretty good on my bike, so anymore, I have my vehicles detailed by folks I can trust to do it right.

I haven't seen that in 20 years, last I heard they went out of business some time a go. But the wax was awesome ...

You bought a 56k car to use cheap $6.50 spray on wax..really...almost as bad as the ice turtle wax. Throw some armor all on the dash and your good to go. Whatever you like I guess.
