Just a quick question on Car Shows

Just need an opinion on when y'all get your car judged. Has anyone had a Judge fondle their car.. feel up in the wheelwells, touch it under the hood?

Car show judges, well good ones anyway, know not to touch the cars their judging.

We need a 1:16 scale replica so the cars can show where the judge touched them.

That is pretty much what I told the President of the Club who hosted and watched his Judge do it . I said it was unethical while He defended his Judges actions of touching the car. Anyone else had a Judge touch their car?

Interesting! By "car show", are you guys referring to something different than a "concours" style car show? In one of our local club's concours-type events, the adjudicators do touch the cars, inside the tailpipes, on the inside of the wheel wells, inside seal seams, under the side rockers, all those tricky places that dirt gets into! Which I would presume in that sort of environment would be acceptable.

The only time i have ever seen a judge touch anything on a vehicle is during a true 1000pt judging system. Even then it does not happen often.

Yuppers, we're talking the real nitty-gritty stuff! I've always thought it's a little over the top personally, but hey, some people get really into it! Whatever floats your boat! It's always entertaining to see new cars that come trailered in lose to older ones that drove in at these events, but then again, some of those old cars are purpose-built concours cars, that were constructed with white gloves on hand and in mind. They do a, shall we say, "milder", version of the concours too for people who want to show off their cleaning skills but wouldn't stand a chance against the rest, and they still do touch the cars.

dmerk, not a concours show but a local car show. No white gloves. Maybe Canadians have different rules and ethics on touching the cars. Don't know. The Judges ask for the owners to open doors, fuel lids, take mats out or any questions about the car. In 30+ years of showing cars I have NEVER had a Judge touch a car until this weekend. BTW.. it wasn't one of the Camaro's I own.

I went to two judged shows with my Camaro club and decided that cruises are more for me. Its not the judges that bother me its the picky and fussy owners.

The only time a judge has ever touched my car is to open the door to look in.

I can tell you I have been judging 1000pt car shows for 16 years yes we do touch the cars You have to when opening the doors closing them checking for alignment, looking under floor mats, trunks, wheel wells, inside of the wheels, underside, checking for dirt, ect... This is what I do if I am judging older cars for say a 4th gen and 5th gen I do far less touching as I already know where the dirt sits on these cars, unless the car has aftermarket hood/spoiler the alignment is dead on, you just need to know what your dealing with before you start judging. As a head judge we judge all together I hold a quick meeting with the guys I am working with go over a few things see if they have judged before review the point system, ect... Go over that we will open and close the goers once, same with the trunk and hood.

If it was hardcore judging on a point system I would not see the big deal but a local small show i can see the difference. When i showed my corvette i remember having a point deducted for having a small piece of lint under my seat
