Why do you say the performance took a toll? I'm considering those 22's for my car.

When you are Rotating a bigger wheel your Gear ratio changes up therefore reduces some performance.. Other people might be able to explain this better for you....

The overall dia. of the wheel and tire combined is what will change the gear ration not the wheel size alone. Stock dia. for any of the Camaro wheels weather riding on 18's, 19's 20's or even the 21's is 28.6" dia. The smaller you go in dia. the better acceleration, but you will lose fuel economy. The larger the dia. you go the better the top end speed (but we are goveened at 155 mph), the better the fuel economy, but acceleration will suffer.

The advantage one should be looking for is a lighter wheel / tire combination. Less rotating mass. My first question when looking at new wheels for my Camaro was how much do they weigh, then cost. Looks were first, but if they weighed more than stock I kept looking, which is how I settled on the TSW Nurburgring's.

Anyone getting 22" wheels needs to undestand they're negatively affecting their cars performance and handling. But for some that's no big deal, because they don't race their car or they're not overly concerned about their car's performance.

Help!

Ok I've decided to go with the TSW but I'm not sure what offset to get. Currently I am running my stock wheels with 20mm spacers with a 2" drop and it fits perfect. I want the same fitment I have now with the TSWs, so what offset and rim size should I go with? There's got to be some math here to figure what I need. Here are some pics of how my current set looks. Anyone?

The best fitment is 9.0" +20 offset front and 10.0" +35 offset rear.

Im looking for this kind of fit on the front. Will the +20 up front give me that? I ask because some of the pics I see the fronts look really sucked in...

I can only speak for the TSW Nurburgrings. Their offsets are fairly aggressive (actually a little too aggressive in the back). They bring the tires out to the fenders like you described. In the rear, they bring the tire out just perfectly for stock 275s. But the offset is a little too aggressive to fit some of the wider 305s.

Here's an old pic of mine with the stock 245 front tires on the Nurburgrings. I wouldn't want the offsets to be any more aggressive. Larger front tires (say a 275), would come out pretty much to the limit for clearance up front.

Thanks! The nurburgring is the wheel I'm going with. I'm going to reuse my stock tires for now and later go to a 275 front and 295 rear. So that should work?

Go re-read post #62. This might help you with the look that you will get for the front.

Yes, those fit right. What offsets are you running?

Ok now I'm even more confused. Most of the pics I've seen with a +35 on front the wheels are way sucked in. You sure those aren't +20? Is it possible SS and non SS models fit different?

I also have +35 for the front and rear. Check my albums for more pics and it will give you an idea of the look. I am using the stock tires too.
What may give more of an appearance of a sucked in look would be the tire roll. Up front I have the OEM 245 which kinda has the stretched look going on; however, if you go with a 275 up front your tire will be right to the edge just about. To be real honest, I don't know how much 15mm is going to really make to the eye. I have seen both and by just looking they look the same to me. I think you are good with what ever dicision you make.

I could see how your getting confused.

Guys need to post two things for you with their pics.
1. The tires size they are running
2. The offsets

The most common offset for the Nurburgrings is +20 and +35 (which is an aggressive setup)
Those are the offsets I'm running.

Also rtcat is not running the stock tire size up front. I believe he's running 275s up front.

Where as myself and newage are running 245s (skinnier tire) up front.

Maybe this will help make your decision. I would say if you are going to keep the stock tire sizes you would be best with a +20 up front and the + 35 in the rear. If you have intensions of ever stepping up to a 275 on that front 9 inch TSW, I would go +35 upfront. SGOS252382... let me know if you agree.

The Nurburgrings are made in 19x9.0 +20 front and 19x10.5 +25 rear. A little bit aggressive fitment in the rear but it does work.

I agree with what everyone is saying. I went with 275's in all 4 corners for rotating purposes and better handling. So my wheels and tires are all the same.

The 20x9.0 +20 with a 275 up front is a great fitment and brings the tires right to the fenders. Here are some pics of a 275/40/20 front and 295/40/20 rear.
