Question Backup Camera while in Drive?

I was wondering if there is a way to view your backup camera in your rearview mirror while you are in drive...

I don't think so. The screen is powered by the reverse wire.

I'm sure it can be done. A relay and a switch would probably do it.

Why do you want to do this? Just for the cool factor?

If you have the kit i sale the harness has a diode in to not back feed the BCM, what you do is power the wire and the miror will come on but you will need a relay and a trigger.

One last thing you cant run the mirror for more then 2 min or it will lock you out till you restart the car.

I have a complete after market setup for my audio system and added a reverse camera so I can pull it up as a source at any time. More expensive but it is an option. I also like that the double din head unit is much larger than the picture in the mirror.

alpine only power the camera when you cue it. The 910 unit you can just hit source and then hit the camera icon whenever you are driving. Helps with blindspots. You do have to use an alpine cam to really get it to do as it should. 170deg view on the alpine cam.
