Glad you're an honest person who will take responsibility. That'll take you a lot further than any camaro will.

It's totaled but you'll have a new camaro no worries.

The cars toast (well depends on who your insurance carrier is, any one of the big companies will total the car).
At 20 and now this, your insurance is gonna SKYROCKET.

Speed limit or less. Doesn't take much energy to tear off the left front during a head-on collision.

I didn't hit the guy head on, it was a sideswipe with his wheel hitting mine. Slid at 50mph for about 200 ft into 2 trees and 2 ditches. Hence damage.

You slid 200' and scrubbed no speed?

Something about the dynamics of this accident seem hinky. I mean, I'm a volunteer EMT, I've seen a few hundred of these and I'm sorry, but I'm not buying that you looked down for a split second and that somehow translated into a 200' slide that impacted a car and two trees.

This is why we don't give kids new cars. Glad you're ok. Next time PAY ATTENTION. Were you texting or screwing with the radio that caused you to look away?
I don't want to take the attention away from this guy, I'm glad he's okay and it's unfortunate what happened. I know the stereotype, but not ALL kids mistreat their new cars. I take better care of my car than ANYONE at my school.

I looked down and went over the double yellow about a foot. Once I looked up, i saw I was over the lines and another car was coming. I tried to turn back into my lane, but it was too late. My car went wheel-for-wheel with a car in the opposite lane. My wheel kinda got t-boned and broke off of the suspension, and went under my car. My car slid AFTER the wheel broke off. By the way as an update, my car has been officially totalled by my insurance. Got some more pics when I got my plates off today.

Heres the wheel that started it all.

The brake is completely fine, even the disc. go figure.

First of all the most important thing is that everyone is ok and everyone was able to walk away and talk about it.

I totaled my 68 Camaro years ago while i was living in Mass. I was driving along and i slid on some black ice which made the car slide sideways into a telephone pole on the drivers door. I never saw it and there was nothing i could do about it once the car was sliding and out of control. I was and am still grateful i didn't kill or hurt myself or anyone else. It only takes a second for something to happen.

Take this as a learning experience and move on.

I would say you need to be looking for a new car. Shit happens to all of us. Main thing is that you both walked away.

That pushes the resale up on my V6 just ever so slightly, one less car in the supply pool. =p For real though, it sucks to see that happen. I'm glad to finally see someone admit they screwed up. It kind of hits home, because I just bought my own as a 20-year-old as well.

11000 miles. Insurance company says my car was worth $24,900 so I got a good down payment.

I think some of you should start shopping for a new insurance company if your rates are going up. My rates just went down and I guarantee my driving record is worst than all of yours....combined. lol.
