Well, first screw up in the new Camaro!

Pulled off the side of an old street to eat some dinner this evening. The street sloped down into a very tall curb. Left the car in gear to hold it from rolling down into the curb. When I came back out to leave my dumb self pushes the clutch in to start the car and away I go rolling into the curb. Now I've got a nice little scratch on the bottom part of the bumper as well as a warped passenger side bumper cover in front of the wheel. The scratch doesn't bother me much because it's hardly noticeable. But, this "bubble" does. Is there anyway these can be formed back into shape? Or do I need to go look at a new bumper?

Also, anyone with recommendations on a shop in the DFW area that will treat the customers fairly price wise let me know.

That's no good.

My 2nd day in my Camaro a 1 gallon milk jug (empty) flew out of a truck and landed in the road in front of me. Being that I've drove pickups ever since I got my license (7 years now) I never checked up. It wasn't until I ran it over and heard it drag under the car for a couple hundred feet that I remembered I was in a CAR. Didn't scuff the paint on the bottom of my bumper or anything luckily.

I buy paint and detailing supplies from English Color. They might be able to give you a good reference.

I only know places out here in Greenville.

Good luck.

Not opposed to going to Greenville! I'm think the fact that its warped is going to warrant a new bumper, so I may just go with a ZL1 bumper.

Try putting some heat on it and it may go back. Thess covers are TPO and have a memory. Who is your insurance company. They may have some recommendations. I had some work done on my Solstice at Accent. They did a great job.

I was rearended 6 weeks after picking up my brand new 2011 2SS. I took my car right back to my dealer (Classic Chevrolet in Grapevine). They did a good job on my rear bumper.

It's been almost 2 years now since it was done and no issues at all. Worth a call at least.

The body guy at Stonebriar Chevrolet in Frisco did amazing work on my rear bumper cover after a truck hitch backed into it and punctured and misshaped it. Looked brand new.

They told me they have one guy there that does nothing but repairs on plastic. He fixes stuff other shops have to replace.

Why am I the first to say these 2 things.

You don't depress the brake when you start her up? (habit for me)

You don't use the e brake and just trust it stays in gear on a hill?

Sorry for the damage. Maybe I am just paranoid for always using the e brake

Probably because A. That's not helpful at all and B. Everyone makes mistakes from time to time.

Sorry that happened to you but if we can learn a lesson from our mistakes then maybe this might prevent yourself and others from making the same mistake and i agree with Parapdrapa try and get into the habit of always pulling the E-brake when parking your car even on level gound, its a good habit to learn.

Yep, I learned that lesson for sure last night. I even used the E-brake when I parked in our parking lot this morning on flat ground. Live and learn. I got out of the habit of using the E-brake on other manuals because it got to where the E-brake wouldn't hold like I want it to on hills, so that's where I got into that terrible habit.

Yes, I normally do press the brake when I started the car up. But, I was just sitting in the car half way to warm the car up before we leave. Wasn't thinking at all and used my right foot to press the clutch in with left foot outside the car on the ground. Stupid, I know, and trust me I paid for that stupity. Criticism doesn't hurt me at all. I can take it and not get worked up, so flame on. I deserve it!

I work 14 hour nightshifts and one day I got off and started my civic and thought it was out of gear and lurched forward. Thankfully 76 HP and no tq stalls and nothing happened. It would be terrible in a camaro! Best of luck dude
