What if you could switch DOD on/off on the fly?

This is just a feeler here, but we've been working on being able to switch DOD on/off with the cruise control button. Cruise ON= DOD ON, Cruise OFF= DOD OFF. If you could have similar gains to a diablo/hpt tune, including transmission (TCM) tuning, AND be able to turn DOD on or off without turning off the car or anything, and simply pressing the cruise control button, would you be interested?

Like I said, we are already working on this, but it's more for the 5.3L truck market.... but I think there may be a bit of interest here also on the Camaro SS.

This would be via Trifecta tuning by the way, mail order tuning. Still a custom tune though, you can have us adjust the trans to shift how you want it, tune for 100 octane, nitrous, etc.

Sounds great and I'm sure you will get a lot of interest, but you can already tune DOD on and off gear by gear.

Mine used to be on in "D" 5th and 6th gear only. In M or Sport mode it was all off..

Some people might be interested, but from what I've read on here, it really doesn't help MPGs much at all...it's maybe worth 1 mpg improvement.

Personally, I'm glad mine is off and I never, ever want it back on my car again.

Depends on the price. I think there are a lot of L99 drivers who just want to turn off AFM/DOD cheaply without having to buy a $400 tuner. If the price is the same, then I'd want the flexibility and extras a tuner offers.

Price would be $150 for the cable, $230 for the tune. You also get a tune out of it though, not just that feature. Would include TCM tuning for auto cars too.

I guess a switch would be cool, but can't a custom tune just turn off DOD while in D (Drive) only?

I thought guys could have DOD active while in D (Drive), but deleted while in M (Sport) or M (Manual Tap shift mode).

I had my DOD completely turned off (one the best mods for an L99). But I guess I could see someone that spends lots of time on the highway wanting to retain their DOD for a couple mpg.

But like I said, I thought that could be done with a custom tune.

Trifecta is a 100% custom tune, just like HP Tuners. We tweak the car to what you want by you data logging it, just like with HPT or Diablo.

This hasn't gone anywhere because no one seemed to want it. We are working on it for the 5.3L Trucks though, and it wouldn't be hard to carry over to the Camaro if you guys showed interest in it.

I didn't know you could have it be active in just M/S mode already. Can you or anyone else confirm that you can?

Personally, I think AFM/DOD was a bad idea for a sports car. It boils down to politics, GM needs to show xx miles per gallon to meet gov standards. Leave the 8/4 cylinder modes to the econoboxes and let your Camaro roar.

I said it in Post #3... DOD can be turned off gear by gear in M and also gear by gear in D. I used to have a screenshot of the HP Tuners table, but that was a couple years ago. There is also a single setting that turns it all off or on.

But I will say what you offer (TCM tune included) is a good deal. Trifecta did a lot of work fine tuning the A6 and I wouldn't hesitate buying it.

The button on/off feature would be cool too.

Thanks for the kind words. We're interested in suggestions so feel free to just throw some ideas of stuff you guys would like to see. We really want to be able to offer you stuff you can't get anywhere else and we have the ability to do that because we don't just use the tables that are given to us in any particular software. The ECM/TCM is wide open to us, so we can develop whatever we want as long as its logical to the computers on the car.
