The first 3 Camaros of 12 at my dealer are all at 3800 (Produced)

The manager at my dealership just called me at 9:50 a.m. Friday morning. He wanted to tell me that I now had a vin number! He went on to tell me that as of Thursday I did not have one. He checked the system and told me that my 2SS/RS was produced at 4:30 p.m. Thursday evening. He told me that although this seamed to be really good news I should assume nothing concerning delivery. The reason being that #1 at the dealership (I am # 2) has been at 3800 since the 8th of May and they still do not have it. Number #3 at the dealership is also at 3800. He checked while we were on the phone to see if any had moved to 4000 (shipped) and they had not. He said that almost no dealer within a 50 mile radius of our area had their Camaros yet. I am hoping our area is getting ready to have a tidal wave of Camaros come in and mine is on the wave. I will keep everyone posted on this issue. He told me that he checks on the status of the Camaros every day so I am sure he will call me as soon as one or more moves to 4000.

you might be getting that call in two weeks, but it is an exciting feeling having your car built

You are right about it being an exciting feeling. I was calling all my friends last night to let them know that my car was now built!

If their first few cars were built in march or early april, don't compare yours to those. Those early ones (first few 1,000 or so) are in a different catagory all their own. Recent builds have been shipped within days of production.

That is good to know that recent builds have shipped within days of production! That means my Camaro could be here next week or the week after that.

I think as time progresses the time frame from being produced to shipped to dealer will be shorter. Once the car is built it cannot take more than a week for them to prep it for delivery. Then assume a few more days once it has been shipped. I think anyone who is at 3800 should see their cars end of this month, imo. Well lets hope so.

I'm sure hoping so.
But I'm still not sure how quickly the cars that are getting factory stripes are being shipped out.

I have no Stripes, so hopefully mine will be shipped out sooner. I thought about Stripes but felt it takes away from the color of the car. Of course it is all personal taste.

Good point in that to date I have not seen any delivered Camaros with factory stripes. I really hope there is not a delay in shipping out the first Camaros with factory stripes.

I heard from my dealer this evening! They say that my 2SS/RS shipped on the 19th and the dealership paid for the car on the 20th. They say that they expect the car to arrive next Wednesday the 27th! In addition to this #1 at my dealer was built on April the 8th and to date it still has not shipped! Finally my dealer told me their V6 demo car is also in transit, but they still do not have it. It was at a railyard in Ohio on the 18th. They are hoping it arrives soon!

Congrats on the great news! I'm happy to hear that some cars with factory stripes are being shipped. I was worried that striped cars would be delayed. Since your car has the same stripes as mine, and was built a week before mine, I hope to get a positive phone call soon.

Again, congrats and enjoy your new ride!

Things are progressing nicely now. My dealership just recieved their V6 demo car late Tuesday night. It had just got to the railyard in Petersburg, VA on Friday. The first day it could have made it to the dealer was Tuesday due to the Memorial Day Holiday on Monday. My car was estimated to make it to Petersburg on Wednesday, but as of noon yesterday it still had not made it there. I am hoping to get a call today to let me know my car is in Petersburg, and will be at my dealer on Friday or Saturday. The manager at my dealership told me once it makes the railyard it will leave quickly because unfortunately the haulers are not delivering many other cars besides Camaros.

I went to look at the V6 demo car last night. It is a SIM 2LT/RS, and it looks real sweet. They have it on the showroom floor. There were plenty of people who came by that day to see what the 2010 Camaro is all about. I hope it leads to many more sales. GM need a hot selling car and I think they have one.

How quickly the tide can change!: This afternoon I got a call from my dealer. I was expecting them to tell me that my car had made it to Petersburg, VA and would be at the dealership in one to two days. Instead of this I was told that they had called someone at GM and they were told that when my car went to shipped status it did not mean that the car was loaded on the train and shipped to Petersburg as would be the normal status quo, but rather it ment my car had been picked up by a truck and taken off site to have the stripes installed. In addition to this my car will later be returned to the factory after the stripes are installed. Finally my car has been identified to be part of a lot of cars which will be quality audited to ensure the stipes are straight or whatever, and that they hope to have this quality audit completed by the middle of June. After the audit is over they hope to have all the cars shipped within 48 hours. This means that in less than 48 hours I have went to thinking my car will be delivered any day now to not having a chance in hell of having the car delivered any sooner than one month from now.

Interesting information for sure. I too feel your pain (in QC), I am starting to believe some of these bankruptcy theories more and more.

If they are really holding you car that long to ensure the stripes are straight, we could just be looking at cleans books for GM at this point.

I am thinking the bankrupcy theories could be starting to hold water as well. All afernoon I have analyzed the he** out of this situation to try and make sense of it, but no sense can be made. If the car is being picked up at the factory to be taken off site to have the "factory installed stripes" installed then they are not "factory installed stripes" at all, now are they? In addition to this it stands to reason that GM would have made more money from this option had they simply had the dealer install the stripes as per all other colors excluding white and cyber gray, right? Oh well I guess I will calm down a bit by tomorrow, but right now I just need to vent a little.

This will be the first car I have purchased from this dealer. My wife's Monte Carlo was purchased at Edington Chevrolet in Edington, VA. We purchased that car in 2005 when GM had employee pricing going on. At that time you needed to find the car you wanted in stock at a dealer and that is why we drove 2 hours to pick up the car in Edington. Having said that the manager at Casey has tried to keep me informed (good and bad) to the best of his ability and I would say at this point that I trust him.

Bummer! But, Mike, I don't think their filing Chapter 11 has anything to do with your delay. Other cars have been chosen for a thorough QC inspection and therefore held up too recently. Unlucky for you, but at least it'll mean your car should arrive in primo condition, as well as, if flaws are found, helping many others receive their cars in top notch shape as well.
It may just be part of the new production car learning, quality assurance curve. Granted though, it's a bitch waiting even longer than you expected. Let's see what happens with my car that's getting "factory" CGM stripes and I was expecting to receive mid next week.
Hang in there, buddy!!!

At this point it is all very frustrating, but we just need to hang in there (hopefully) a little longer.

Crap Mike! That sucks bro. I just got my VIN today, I have a RJT w/ silver dealer installed stripes, its possible we could get our cars on the same train. I would expect w/ out any QC holds, since no factory stripes it should be roughy 2-3 weeks or so before mine arrives via courteosy delivery to Hall Chevy in Chesapeake via Les Stanford in Michigan. I got MSRP from Les. Hall wants 10k on the SS`s..So mine will end up there just not w/ the 10k markup...

We need to hookup once we get our cars, I`m actually going out to Jenro`s in VB this saturday around 3pm, a buddy of mine just got a solstice gxp hardtop in blue, he figures it will be a rarity w/ Pontiac going away and them only making a few hardtops. If you head out there ask the guy w/ the Solstice (Chris) where I`m at, my names Mike also.

Take it easy, it will be here before you know it!
