Mine came in today, and they are awesome! They look really sleek, and they are surprisingly light which is good! They really do make driving in standard a lot more fun, and they enhance the whole look of the steering wheel! One thing though, they do get really hot. I have only had them for a day, and I live in Texas so the heat is pretty miserable, but they where really hot when I got in my car after work. This is a very small issue, and it really is expected because just like a seatbelt, metal will get hot in the sun. But overall, I love the paddle shifters so far, the shipping was fast and easy, and I would definitely recommend these!

Have you designed them for the 2012 yet? I have a link that shows how to remove them, the paddle peace itself appears to be simple, i think you will have an even easier time designing and manufacturing the paddles to fit the 2012 style than you did with these.

heres my link for the removal.

Let me know when you make them for the '12, until then Ill probably do a delete of them.

Thank you Rhyder
We are still not decided if we will produce the 2012.. because the Paddles cannot be removed as easily as on the 2010/11. Not everybody is willing to remove their airbag, disconnect battery.... + the 2012 Paddles need to be dismantled as well to change with our own design. I'm not saying we will not produce them but we're still trying to find the easiest and most convenient way to do so.

Changing small buttons with real Paddles is more interesting than changing small paddles with bigger paddles !

I would urge you to, it is going to be your market going forward, the pre 2012 crowd is going to be your smallest pool of clients, a drop in the bucket if you will.

Plus once I had it off, having bought one of your paddles already, comparing your existing paddle and the one on the 2012, it looks like it will be easier to manufacture the 2012 one by how it connects.

And it truly is easy to pull the airbag back, literally the hardest part is pushing the two pins sideways to pull the airbag back, meaning it wasnt very hard.

It was harder getting the cluster cover off for another mod than pulling the airbag back

And I think its more about the paddles looking 100% better and easier to use than the current paddles, after all Hurst is selling the replacment paddles for the 2012+.. Maybe you could start a poll thread for 2012+ owners to see the interest

Also looking at it, I believe you can remove the paddle piece alone with it still on the steering wheel, all you need do is push out the pin, so if you design the paddle like you did this one, there would be no need to remove the airbag, that would only be if you were removing the whole assembly.

I will try and test my theory later that you can push the pin out while its on the steering wheel and let you know.

Thank you Rhyder for all the info above

Yes, if the 2012 Paddles can be removed as easily as you have said without removing the Airbag.... We'll definitely continue our project.

The design will be the same, the only difference is the connecting middle part.

Let me know if you manage to do what you said, I will do same here.

Thanks again

you can push the pin out and remove the paddles, putting back was a bit of a pain, the area to work is kinda small and I used a small needle nose to put it in....

on a scale of 1-10 with 10 the hardest, I would say its a 2.5 just because its a bit of a small area to work in. having an extra hand to hold it in place while you insert the pin would make it loads easier.

It's very simple !

You place a small flat screw driver in the center and pry up the existing buttons from the center to push away the 2 small hinges that keep them attached to their surrounding plastic housing. Once they come out, you just install the New Paddle Shifters in place by pushing the first hinge inside the first hole and using again the small flat screw driver to push away the plastic housing so you can push inside the second hinge .

That's it !

Here is a video I did a while ago showing how easy it is.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you

Very easy, but it doesn't look very secure. Does it ever pop off?

They are very secure with the 2 hinges on each side to prevent them from coming off, even if you pulled hard on them, they wont pop off.

How long does it usually take to get them?

I can't wait for mine, I sure hope he got them shipped out. Driving with the factory "paddles" sucks!

I installed mine on July 12.
My car is my daily driver. And I always drive in Sport/Manual, so they have gotten a work out!!
62 days later... not a single issue. I'm very happy with these:
