Stopped for a DUI checkpoint

Tonight, on the way home, I got stopped for a DUI checkpoint, But all the officer did was talk about my car, telling me how much he liked the way it looks, asking me what I had under the hood, and if I done anything to it , then he said that he had ordered a 2012 dodge Charger and was going to pick it up tomorrow and couldn't wait. Never asked me if I'd been drinking

Did he shine a flashlight in the car? He could have determined whether or not you were drinking that way.

Dude, that's part of the investigation, talking to you. It's pretty obvious to tell whether your in the bag or not just by talking to a person. Eyes, speech, odor, and general responses to everyday questions. He probably knew right away you were fine and wanted to bs about your car.

No odor of alcohol on your breath = no need to press if you were drinking.

No odor ...no issues with eyes/speech.. he was bsing to kill time until the line moves. The line moves in unison. So if we stop a 4 lane road, it is far more safe for the officers and civilians involved if you continue the line as a group instead of each car individually (due to the amount of foot traffic). If you have been drinking it is usually obviously and you are pulled off to the side within 60 seconds... and this is when people run lol

We can either be friendly and talk... or just be quiet and awkward. Both are awkward as hell if you ask me...

If you had been drinking, as soon as you rolled the window down the smell of alcohol would have been obvious to the officer. When you're drinking, you have no idea of how strong the smell is to a sober person. Ever been in a bar the morning after a big night? It's enough to make you nauseous, but while you were there the night before, you never noticed the smell.

Since he probably didn't smell anything when you rolled down the window, he found a way to get you to talk to him freely so he could smell your breath without you knowing what he was doing. And like others have said, he was also gauging your speech cognizance, etc.

Some have alcohol detectors in their flashlights. That and talking a bit with you is the first step before deciding if you're going to have to walk the line.

My girlfriend has a heavy foot, been pulled over 3 times in the last year.

Not one ticket issued.

She says she never used her T&A on them, and one was a woman.

I remain skeptical, and claim the female officer was lesbian.

Dude, you sound as though you're bummed about not being "offered" a breathalizer. Be happy, brag about your Camaro and roll on down the highway.
