Placing the order and having the factory pick it up are not the same. I was told there will be more production info after July 2nd.

My dealer called to let me know that at least some ZL1 Vert allocations were announced today, but not mine just yet.

Hate the wait.

Just got this e-mail from Larry at GMconnects.
\
Subject : Camaro Zl1 Convertible
Body : Hello Zl1 Vert buyers, I just wanted to confirm what you may have already heard or been updated with. Several of the Zl1 Convertible orders have progressed beyond the 2030 status now and some are at the 3000 status where parts are being ordered. Now not to throw any water on the subject, in the past with the Coupe and other models we have seen this move and even beyond only to then actually move back in status from time to time. This is actually a normal occurance for new models. Not saying that is going to happen but it may. The good news is that orders have been accepted into production by GM and are now in the process of getting parts ordered. Planned plant shutdown for summer break is fast approaching so hopefully we will see some new Zl1 verts scheduled upon their return. Thanks again for using GMConnects and if I don't have further reports before the Holiday I want to wish each and every one of you a great 4th. Larry

Thanks

The 2013's, most of them, will be built somewhere else than Oshawa, Ontario, Canada. They had some 2012's with quality problems and stated they were to be titled as 2013's when done. However, the rest will be built in Bowling Green, KY, home of the Corvette. Personally I would wait until 2014. I was with GM when they announced the end of Gen 4 Camaros, then produced in Montreal, along with the Pontiac Firebird, RIP.

Good luck to us all.

Yes, my dealer was notified on June 21st that he could submit one of his ZL1 Convertible allocations this cycle as long as it didn't have the Navigation System since the Navigation System currently has a national constraint limit of 0. I decided that I could live without the Navigation System, so he submitted the allocation for me and my ZL1 Convertible order has been accepted is now has a status of 2000, with an estimated TPW of July 16th, after the two week plant shutdown.

I think we're all anxious to receive our ZL1 Convertibles, as a lot of us have been waiting for a 5th Gen high performance Camaro convertible for quite some time.

I was recently notified by my dealer that he was informed by production control that the ZL1 stripe package is not actually available on the ZL1 Convertible, even though it is possible to submit an order for a ZL1 Convertible with the strip package that will pass the edit tables.

Those who ordered a ZL1 Convertible with a stripe package should remove the stripe package from the order, so that production of one's order will not be delayed due to an unavailable option combination.

My dealer just informed me that their single allocation for a ZL1 Vert has been picked up by GM and they just need to stop by and confim the order I placed back on 4-19.

Good news, at least the e-mail notification part of GMconnects is still working.

I got the notice today indicating as of 7-19, the order was accepted by GM and the dealer has used an allocation to place the order into production.

I have now moved from 2030 (order was edited), to 2000 Order accepted by GM

Now the long wait begins.

North Easterners getting the cold shoulder !!!
I talked to the guy who does ordering today at my dealership
he just got off the phone with GM and he was informed that NO ZL1
VERT allocations will be not given to at least the 1st of the year for northeast .
they dont like to ship verts in the bad weather !!
Some good news he said I wont lose my allocation due to the nav
constraints, he was told that the verts would be retro ordered for the
nav(what ever that means)
long cold winter!!the summers not even over yet!!

Well, that's annoying. I'm in Kentucky and waiting for my dealer to get his allocation. I know I'm not Northeast, but we were neutral in the Civil War. I hope they consider us South!

Y'all hearin' me GM? I sho nuff love my grits and hog jowls. We in the deep South down here.

Oh, Belvedere! Come here boy! Good dog! Come sit under the magnolia tree for a spell, and we'll have some cool lemonade. It sho is hot down here in the South!

Do you think He will take deposit for a car he cant put a order in for ,We agreed on MSRP I hope he does not change his mind and want more, I wont pay a dime over MSRP

He has a black 2012 ZL1 on the floor and wants 5 over ,its been sitting there for a week and 1/2(I sat in it and started it SWEEEEET sound)
Never pay MSRP. Ask to see invoice and what they buy the car for. Go from there. They get a kickback for every sell usually $1500. I never pay over INVOICE. BUt it is a new model but they should still show u invoice (which is what that dealer bought the car for).

As long as dealers are price gouging everyone for these cars that's exactly where they should remain, on the showroom floor. Sooner or later they'll get hungry and start selling cars rather than falling in love with them and charging ridiculous mark-ups. Especially in this crappy economy. I'd never buy a (rapidly) deprecating asset for over MSRP just to say I have one....that's lunacy, IMO.

Cancelling order on 2013 ZL1 Vert.

After reading many, many posts on top issues and news of the recent delays, I have regrettably decided to cancel my order for a 2013 ZL1 convertible.

The latest word is I "may" get the car by Oct/Nov this year but more than likely in Jan/Feb 2013. I started the process to get this car last Dec 2011 with a deposit down to reserve a spot when the allocations came out. Still waiting for an allocation confirmation with no build date in sight. Looks like Canadian orders are yet again taking a back seat to our friends in the US (...and they are built just 30 min down the highway from me).

I thought the 8 month wait for my 99 Firehawk vert was long but this is beyond tolerable, especially with the lack of official attention that GM is putting on the vert top issues you are all having.

Too bad as I was really looking forward to this car, but am now soured on the whole thing and am bailing and will have to eat my $1500 deposit as it is "non-refundable" :(

All the best guys and hope each of you get your tops replaced or repaired to your satisfaction.
