To the V6 owners switching to V8....

I'm just want to know why makes people change the V6 to V8 (i know about the power) after put sow much time and money moding it! Making it your work of art to then just give it away??? And most important i like to know the ones who already did it, How you make a deal to get the V8 on a good price? What happend with the V6 loan? It got pay off in the trade? I want to know the secret! I like to have a SS power if doesn't hurt my pocket!

i want the v8, but you are gonna lose on the deal. best bet from what i hear is sell your car privately, then find a v8 to buy. also if you can, you can sell the v6 and save for a few months before getting the v8 to help pay for the difference. and yes you would have to pay off your loan for the v6 and get a new loan rather than extend or add to your current (as far as i know but i know nothing)

it's going to hurt your pocket, no way around that. the problem with the SS is they come with all the options. it's not like you can get a base model just with the V8.

I bought the v6 because I wanted money to mod it how I wanted to. touch screen, t2 ports, spoiler, 22 inch rims, xbox and ps3 hokked up, and it was in my budget.

If I had more money I would of bought the v8 of course, but that would have overextended what I wanted to pay. I couldnt be more happy with my car, and at every car show ive been to I take trophies over most v8s. I dont need all that power honestly, I had my sports bike for that. Some people just cant be happy with what they have. Me on the other hand own my dream car, and nothing makes me happier than modding the hell out of it.

I just did the trade up to a V8..I had my V6 for 6 months and decided I wanted to upgrade. I got a great deal to do so. $1000 down and my payments only went up $30 a month. I haven't regretted the deal once!

I really don't know what I would do with the V8 . I don't go to the track, and with the 6 I can get up to and over the speed limit in about 5 seconds without even hitting 4th. I totally get the people who want to mod them and run them at the track, but for regular street driving the 8 seems like overkill. the way traffic is around me, a 6 is almost overkill. with the exception of merging onto interstates passing someone very quickly in traffic, I really don't get to take full advantage of its 323HP, or drive any different than I do in my 175HP altima. though it does sound a whole lot better.

Twin the 6. There is your power and it's still less than the 8. The v8 I was looking at was 32k got the 1lt v6 for 22k and can twin it for 7900. 400+ hp for 2100 less. And better mpg and insurance. While the power is close there is no feeling like forced induction

Went to a car show last night with a ZL1, my and another guy's 2SS, and another that has a 45th V-6...The V-6 drew probably an equal if not more interest from the show-goers as any of the others...just sayin'.

You gave up the chance to have a V8 to put a nice stereo and have your game systems hooked up lol? Game systems belong at home, not in a car.

There's no question you pay for the first year of owning a new car. There have been very few months in my long lifetime that I didn't have a car payment. I know how much I can pay, so the issue is: I will drive the car that I really want as long as it fits my monthly payment budget. I just traded my 2010 SS for L99 for a 2012 SS LS3 and my new car payments are $10 less per month. I will continue doing that until the day they take my license away....lol.

i recently traded to the 8. I got a black 2010 camaro ss for 26500 with about 21000k miles. Why did i trade you ask? Well my way is thinking is that if im going to pay for a car I might as well get a car that i want to keep for a long time. At first i didnt have the income to afford the ss and i was happy with the 6. I even considered dropping twin turbos on the 6. But after 2 years and with more income an opportunity came up where i could get the 8 for less than the price of twin turbos. Nothing has really changed since i got the 8 except for the torque and power of the new engine. The gas is still about the same. I get around 15 to 16 on city. I got about 16 to 17 with the 6. My insurance went up 125 for my 6 month premium and monthly payments went up 28$. And for me the 8 is still practical as its my DD for college. Ultimately you need to decide if the 6 is perfect for you, or if you want to get the 8. Nothing wrong with neither car as they are both good looking performing cars.

It's about priorities. Sounds like you bought it to show it and not worry about performance. I already have a car that out performs the V6, and my top priority was performance, so I went with the SS. While I appreciate appearance mods, I can't bring myself to spend a lot on them when I can get go fast mods.

I paid cash for my v6. I sold all my mods when I changed to a v8. I changed to a v8 so I'll have bigger possibilities and a more reliable platform for performance mods. I took a 13k loan for the v8 and over 7 years it was 200 a month. That's about what I used to pay for cable tv, so too me no cable and a camaro was way cooler than having HBO and DVR...

Gave up the chance? like I said my priorities are much different than yours. I wanted to do a lot of interior and exterior mods. And, I dont need the power. Im happy with what Ive got, and dont live my life wishing I had everything bigger and better. I have a nicer car than 90% of the people in the world, and I am so grateful that I even have a v6.

I went from a 11 1LT/RS to a new 11 2SS/RS, used USAA below invoice pricing, all of the promotions GM had for 11 year models put 1500 down and payments went up 11 dollars a month. Ended up getting the 2SS for 29,100.

Now I just bought an HPS front mount turbo. I'm hoping for 600 rwhp and 700+ rw torque.
My old V6 at WOT sounds so puny compared to my 2SS.

Sig is my 1LT and my Avatar is my 2SS now. I need to fix up a new Sig eh....

I agree 100% with you. you want power over appearance mods and I want appearance mods over power. Nothing wrong with either at all. If everyone wanted the same thing every camaro would be identical, and boring.

I'm making the switch next week but not to a V8. There are so many different options one can go with in 2012 other than a gas guzzling V8.
