My bank gave me 35 grand lol.

Mistakes like this is what ruins our country. My bank rather than giving me a $34k loan made a $34k deposit into my account. Good one General Electric Credit Union. How is that even possible? So I guess if I wanted I could just go buy a 2012 Camaro SS eh or 20 grand in mods? Ugh...guess I will be calling them in the morning. I guess if they were silly enough to give a 21 year old with no credit a 3% interest rate (which I am not at all complaining lol) they are silly enough to hand me 34 thousand dollars on accident. I took a pic of it to post but it gives out too much personal information.

UPDATE: I called the bank this evening and they freaked out when I first memtioned it. The lady got on the computer then pulled up my account and was quite confused. She said she was going to call her supervisor and see what was going on and she would call me back. I then hinted to her in a joking way about maybe cutting me a break on the overall balance . Work my magic maybe. About two hours later the bank called (about an hour ago actually) and said they did indeed make a mistake and thanks be for my honesty. They said they would have eventually figured it out at the end of the month but it was a good thing I didn't spend any of it. The bank graciously took payed this months payment ($540, well waived it) and cut my rate .25%. So all and all I did benifit from their mistake .

Could it be that 34K deposit is the loan, they just put it into your account?

My credit union shows the payment going into the account because that's where the funds for the check come from when it's cashed .

You can bet your ass come Monday morning they'll catch their mistake lol. And if you spend even a dime of it you're gonna owe them plus any penalties they may slap on. Would be nice if it were for real, but it looks like somebody hit the wrong button.....my guess is they may not have a long career in banking lol.

Dont think your getting up on any one. What the above guy said is true when your dealer cashes his check that money will disappear, and if not they will take it back

The dealer has already gotten the payment. I just went through this process on an LS a couple months ago with the same credit union. This didn't happen lol.

That's exactly what it is , BOFA does the same thing . Do not celebrate the new found free money with your bodies at hooters , you will have to pay it back with interest .

Don't call the bank. Let it sit. Do not spend it. Your account should draw interest based on average daily balance(assuming you get interest). So the longer it sits in your account, the more free money you get... Legally.

Eh, I am a LEO. That doesn't seem right. That's all I need is a newspaper publishing "Local Police Officer Abuses the System". Yeah, no good.

Find an accomplice, pull it out, stick it in your mattress and claim an electronic hacker hacked your account and then split the proceeds with your partner in crime. ...You can regale the other inmates with your story every day for oh, 5 to 10 years!

If you are a peace officer then let them know they made a mistake, then you will get a reward for your honesty and, there you have it - another Camaro for your collection

Ha I will let them know for sure. I wouldn't mind getting a grand off or maybe a little bit of a decrease on the interest rate. Don't think they will let me keep it all though

As tempting as it might be to "mess with them", transfer it to another account, hide it...don't do it!...Credit Unions are like the IRS, they work only to their advantage.
Mine always advises to be aware of "suspicioius activity" on all of my accounts, when actually all of the screw ups were done by them!...They'll laugh it off, like its no big deal. But if you start messing with that money, it'll just make things worse.
I'd call them and say, hey something bizarre is going on! I think its fraud!! Should I close my account?!?!?...Just mess with them for fun as they are the ones causing the "suspicious activity"!...lol

the funds probably aren't even available for use. kind of like how those Nigerian check scams work.

I doubt you could even take any of it out.

Yep. Happened to me too...not to the tune of 34k, though.

It was only something like $600 or so. They caught it the following day and fixed it. They WILL figure it out.

Tell them its a mistake, its a ZL-1! Youre loaning 34k and youre putting down 34k. Therefore leftover money will go to mods
