K&N typhoon problem on LFX

I'm looking around for an air intake and I was pretty sure to go with the K&N but I read a report that it does not filter the air and damaged the LFX engine. He also put paper filter is safer and gives better performance. Has anyone else heard of this?

if kn would damage the engine it would never have made it out of development. I have contacted KN and they told me that they do not yet make an intake for the 2012 v6 yet and that the 2010 and 2011 models are not designed for the new motor. i was told its in development but that it may be a while before release. There is a few sites who advertise it will fit but i was advised by JEGS and Summit not to try it due to an improper air flow to the new computer and engine.....

But paper is most def not better IMO

My Suggestion is to just wait until it is released or go with another brand. I have called injen and BBK and Many other companies and i keep getting told that there is no actual LFX intake on the market yet they are all in DEVELOPMENT :/ so i just threw in a KN filter and called it good for now

Sounds like Injen and BBK straight up lied to you just so they wouldn't lose business. Cold Air Inductions has had their cold air intake out for a LONG time now, followed by Rotofab. Hell, I'm pretty sure Injen has an intake available for the 2012 LFX too now so if they just recently told you that then the person you talked to has absolutely no clue what they are talking about...

Look into a Roto-Fab or CAI intake for the LFX cars! They both currently have systems available that are top notch quality and IMO nicer then anything K&N will come out with. We have both models in stock!

I got my CAI last week from Juice for my 2012 LFX. Great price, Excellent service !!! I wanted mine by Friday, had ordered on Tuesday. I was willing to pay EXTRA shipping to have it for the weekend and Juice said SAVE YOUR MONEY I know it will be there in time for you. He was dead on about the shipping. HE went out of his way to SAVE me money. Took me longer to get the tools together than it did to install it. I am going to the dragstrip again this weekend and see what it does. It SOUNDS great and gets a lot of heads turning for a V6 when you put it to the floor. Thanks again Juice

I got a Roto Fab for my 2012, it works fine no issues, easy to install also, IMO the oiled filter is better than the paper filter.

In my off road experience, we advise against oiled filters for extremely dusty conditions due to their inability to trap massive amounts of fine particles and instead recommend a quality paper filter instead. Oiled filters are fine for the street, however.

YMMV,

John B.

I see why paper would be needed in desert areas now. Thanks

Hmmm seems like an oiled filter would catch more does it not? I mean yes you'll actually need to clean it!! Lol

I have the Cold Air Inductions Inc one and I love it. Not only does it looks cool but you can hear a definate lower rumble sound when you hit the gas. It also got rid of the "dead spot" that was there at lower rpms.

Finally!!

Do my eyes deceive me? It appears that K&N has finally manufactured a cold air intake kit for the 2012 LFX V-6's...I randomly checked their website and found part #69-4523TP! Check it out: http://www.knfilters.com/search/prod...Prod=69-4523TP Finally!
