Big brake upgrade??! Suspension?

Hello camaro5 members,
My camaro is currently under build process... End result should be 850 hp and 780-800 tq .... All I have done for handling is Eibach Pro lowering springs, Eibach front and rear sway bars that's it... And my brakes were left stock the 4 piston brembo front and rear... What do I need to improve to get best handling but also keep it street daily driven(but track ready also) ?
And for the brakes what do you suggest I do? I have looked for big brake kits brembos, thy were too pricey .. Any suggestions to help advise a fellow member

Hi.

I don't know what your budget is, but this is what I would recommend for handling:
  • Pedders Xa coil overs
  • Pedders replacement subframe bushings
  • Pedders radius rod inserts
  • the other thing would be sway bars, but you already have those

Pedders actually sells a kit designed for daily drivers that just want better handling. It's called their Daily Driver package, LOL. The next step up from that is their Pace Car package (I think so anyway I could be wrong). Either or, if you contact Pete and let him know what your budget is, I'm sure he'll be more than happy to work with you to get the package that's best suited for your driving needs

For braking, I would contact Chase at Apex Speed. They are currently having a sale on 2-piece slotted rotors. Each rotor is like 3 or 4 pounds lighter than the stock rotors. Then pick up a set of Hawks High Performance brake pads and you'll be set.

You *should* be OK with just swapping the rotors and pads. How aggressive of a pad you'll need I honestly don't know. If you're honestly worried about having enough stopping power then I would go for a big brake kit. Brakes are one thing you never want to half-ass

For street or occasional track use a set of high quality performance pads should definitely be enough, but if you're going to spend a bunch of time on track use you may want to step up in brake sizes. You won't see huge benefits from a big brake kit until you spend some time on track. Larger brakes have the ability to carry larger amounts of heat generated by repeated stops over and over like you see on track. The factory brakes when paired with a performance brake pad should be enough for most anything you can throw at them on the street because typically with street driving the car will see single stopping events with plenty of time for heat to dissipate between them.

There isn't anything wrong at all with using a big brake kit on the street, but the factory brakes are actually pretty good for street use when paired with a performance pad.

Just so you know, we also manufacture Camaro suspension components! We offer everything from Drop Springs and Sway Bars, to replacement bushings and control arms, to full coilover systems. Whether you're building a street car or a full blown race car we have suspension parts that will help you meet your goals.

Since you're going to be putting down really big power we would suggest doing some mods to help you put power to the ground. Our Rear Arm Package consists of replacement Trailing Arms and Tie Rods, including all polyurethane bushings needed for install. The factory arms are known to deflect at both the arm and bushing, and these arms being both lighter and stronger than the factory will help mitigate some of the wheel hop you will see with big power.

Another item which will help tremendously to eliminate wheel hop and increase confidence while launching and driving are Solid Subframe Mounts. Sports cars like the Corvette have had their subframes solidly mounted to their chassis' for years now, and we just take that same idea and apply it to your Camaro. By solidly mounting the chassis to the rear subframe you eliminate a huge source of deflection with minimal impact to ride quality. Check out this video we took during development of the solid subframe mounts to see what a difference they make:

If you have any questions please feel free to shoot me an email! My direct address is jarrett@pfadtracing.com. We love discussing our parts and how they can help our clients reach their performance goals!

My 2010 goes into the shop tomorrow for the following upgrades.

StopTech Big Brake Kit 15inch rotors front/14inch rotors back
Pfadt Racing ASB's front and rear
Pfadt Rear Arm Package
KW Variant 3 Coilovers

I would have included the Pfadt Coilovers but they aren't being produced currently for the Camaro. I'll post my impressions shortly. I'll run the ASB's full stiff initially but not the KW's.

Next purchase will be wheels and Pirelli slicks for track days.

Couldn't have said it better myself. That's a good package there!
