2012 V6 or 2013 V6?

Hey everyone,

I am getting a new camaro pretty soon but I dont know if I should get the 2012 2LS, or should I wait for the 2013 and get that?

What changes were announced for 2013 that would make you wait?

i love my rear view camera in my 2012 and the wide screen entertainment deal is all about pandora in 2013 which you have to still use your phone to use it....might want to see what kind of stock wheels are going to look like....the 2llt RS wheels now are going to be hard to beat..... you cant go wrong either way....

There are no changes to the 2LS model for 2013. The changes only apply to the LT.

I thought i read that the 18" wheels for 2013 will be different...along with the 20" wheels.

Otherwise, the LS will be basically the same. Don't think you can get the new navigation head-unit in an LS, and nothing will be changing performance wise.

Yeah the only way I would wait for the 2013 is for better performance / navigation.... the wait is not worth new wheels, because I am going to buy new ones the second I get the car anyway!

The 18" and 19" LT wheels are changing. I do not believe the heritage wheels will be any different.

If you are looking at an LS, I'd go with the previous model year and get a better deal. You won't get the newer features in an LS anyway.

Wait I'm confused on why I shouldn't get the 2012???? I want the V6 because it's cheaper to pay for like insurance and to buy but if I got the V6 I was expecting to slowly put performance and all other kind of mods into it and possibly getting it around 400+ HP. What is I should ask is, getting over 400+ HP in a V6 possible?

You will likely need forced induction to get over 400 crank horsepower. Will definitely need it to get over 400 to the wheels. With all bolt ons and a tune you will be around 350 crank horsepower. With internal work u can go higher but getting to or over 400 crank will be very tough without FI

I am confused by this statement. My 2012 LS has paddle shifters, and the difference in the 2012 LS and LT gearing is a few hundred rpm's. The gearing difference is not even worth a consideration.

The difference worth noting, other than the obvious fluff difference, is that the 2012 LT has sport mode, and the LS has manual mode. Not sure what the difference is to be honest. If i go manual mode I can redline each gear.

I would say get a 2011 if you plan on doing a lot of mods, or if your are patient, get the 2012 and wait for the mods to become available. There are already a few.

Ok so your saying that the 2012 will have a lot of performance mods? And I'm willing to wait I was expecting to do a lot of mods right away like within the first year. But if the 2012 WILL have mods I'm gonna get that but someone else said it CAN'T have alot of mods. So I'm confused as f**k

All LTs have sport and manual modes. Sport is still automatic shifting, but the transmission will remain in a lower gear once it senses that you are trying to drive sporty. Manual mode is just that...shifting with the buttons and it will not upshift unless you press the button for it.

Its still hard for me to believe your car has manual mode, but not sport.

Get the 2012. The only mod it can't have that the 2010 and 2011s can is headers. Other than that, there is development in place for pretty much all the same bolt ons and mods that the LLT has. You are just going to have to wait until they come...just like us LLT owners did. We waited a very very long time to start getting some of the good stuff we have available today.

Not to mention that there are some mods that are offered for the LLT, that the LFX probably does not need because the design is already present on the LFX....such as a better performing intake manifold.

As of now, as an LFX owner, you can: Get an intake, get exhaust, get a tune, ported throttle body (almost available), I believe SOLO will offer high flow cats, and I hear MACE may have an intake spacer in the words for the LFX. An LLT owner would need headers and an intake insulator on top of all that to be about equal (give or take some HP/TQ)

Wow thanks for all that info! Yeah I think when I get my house sold I'm gonna go with the 2012 2LS because honestly I'm not going to put performance mods into it right away even if I went with the 2011 so waiting for some to come out would be no problem!

Try for the 1LT. If what I remember is correct, it's about $30 extra on the GM website. Getting a 1LT give you fogs that the LS doesn't have. It gives you lighter wheels right off the bat. The LS comes with steel rims that way a LOT. If you decide to get the 2013, you'll get MyLink (not sure on the name) center control unit. I think the 2013 2LS will have different 18' wheels. If you really want a 2LS, either year would suffice. I'm pretty sure that the 2013s will have LFX so it'll be the same. Hope this helps.
