Footwell Lighting

I am doing a footwell light installation. Thing is I'm not sure which wire to tap into. So, those of you that have installed footwell lights, where did you tap into? I was thinking of tapping into the dome light so the footwells come on whenever the dome light is on. Have any of you done this? Any pics would be helpful. Also I'm looking for a pic of what the factory footwell light kit looks like under the dash(looking at the lights themselves) so it would be great if someone could post one up

This is the thread I've used as a guide. I've done three installs this way with no issues.

There is an easier way to tap into the dome light wires ,the passenger side kick panel has a harness you can tap there for better access then run you're wire to the drivers side ,the yellow with white is the one you want , that's better and faster no,need to go under the steering wheel..

Remove the right side kick panel. On the large harness find a gray wire, A7 and black B7. Tap these wires. Gray is the power and black is ground. They will fade on and off with the dome light. Just did mine. Works great.

Do yours fade on and off or just on and off? If they are just on and off, maybe the yellow is the door open signal to the DIC. Using gray, A7, gives the fade with the dome.

You want to use the thinner grey wire.

See post 19 (in the below thread) for a tip I gave on mounting the lights:

Sorry, I just noticed you are not using the wires under the steering wheel. I'm sure someone else will chime in pretty quickly.

There are 7 color coded connectors on the bcm above the accelerator. The gray wire u want is located in the gray connector (X7). The gray connector is on one of the ends.

The pic you show is the correct harness. Notice on one side isthere is an A, The other side is B. A7 is the power (gray), B7 is the ground (black) for that. Use these two wire with a t tap and your lights will come on and off wioth the dome light and fade the same.

In your third pic, there are two nearly square holes about 10 or 12 inches apart. I used CCFL tubes so i zip tied them using those to holes and there are a couple different holes on the drivers side. I just went with what I thought was a safe place where they wouln't likely get damaged and would shine light evenly as well as be out of sight from the cabin. Don't be afraied to experiment. Zip ties are fairly cheap.
