Garage door programming?

I tried to set two craftsman garage door openers to my first and second buttons but they won't open the doors. All the lights flash correctly as if they're programmed but no luck. They're basic openers, no extra learn function or anything, any ideas?

I was going to ask this very same question. Also with Craftsman garage door openers. I hope someone knows the answer to this.

I have a Genie and needed to press a "Learn" button on the opener itself. I then had 30 seconds to get back into the car and finish the setup.

I followed the instructions in the owners manual and it worked the second time I did it.

This craftsman one is pretty basic, no learn button.

Are you just pressing the button or holding it for a while to try and get it to open? I have to hold my button down for like 3 to 5 seconds before my garage door will open.

I think you may need to look again to see if that learn button is there somewhere. Unless the opener is really old it should have one. It's probably under the light cover or something up by the terminal screws. I've done this for 3 cars and if you follow the instructions exactly it should work.

Good luck!

Most newer openers LEARN buttons are hidden, actually, if you take the light cover off you will find them. nearly every opener made since the early 90's has a "rolling code" and will have a learn button.

If you are talking about on the homelink system on your car you may need to clear it first then try again. A lot of times if you dont clear the codes first it wont take any. If still does not work then it is a rolling access code garage door and you have to find the learn button.
