Head's up display on windshield?

I didn't get the option (I think its only on the SS and above), but two questions...

1. Do you use the windshield display?

2. Can this be done aftermarket?

Just trying to see if its worth it. It's pretty cool.

People have been adding as a DYI. A bit over my head but if I had a bit more talent I would do it.

HUD was available on my 2LT... so assuming it's a 2LT/2SS thing... but dunno about 2012-2013 models personally.

First I thought it was distracting, but now that is the only thing I use. Like others have mentioned, I hardly look down at the gauges anymore.

I prefer to use it mostly at night. During the day, I prefer the DIC...For whatever reason, how I sit or the angle, or wearing sunglasses, daytime its a little awkward for me. Just easier, more "enjoyable" at night.

I love it. I always know exactly how fast I'm going. When I go back to my 08 Malibu, I'm lost without it.
I never have to look down at a speedometer and then try and figure out just how fast I'm going.

It's also nice when using my iPod because each time a new song starts, it'll breifly display the name of the song in the HUD. Then I can quickly decide whether I want to skip that song or let it play.

I'm spoiled by HUD. It's handy because these cars are so smooth at speed helps keep me out of trouble.

Love it, I barely look at the speedometer. Which is a shame because the speedometer is a thing if beauty, but it's the truth! Ditto on keeping me out of trouble. It's hard to tell how fast you're going until you actual realize you're nearing 10 over or more, oops.

It is on 2LT/2SS. The link has already been posted for the DIY. I love it. It's the first thing I show people when they get in the drivers seat (never let them drive though). If you are capable of doing the aftermarket, I say go for it.

I use mine all the time. Hardly ever look at the gauges anymore either.

I'm also trying to get used to my tapshift more so I like the fact I can see the tachometer on my HUD.

Indeed.. that is nice.. I like the fact on XM radio stations/ MP3 CD's it tells you the Artist & Song playing (I assume the same for Music on USB/iPod as long as it was tagged properly).

Also, when I receive an incoming call on my Bluetooth sync'd phone, it tells me who is calling.

Though I don't use the OnStar navigation (My phone is on a dashboard cradle, and I use that for my nav).. It's cool that the OnStar nav directions also come across the HUD.

The HUD does display a LOT of info.

I use my HUD alot, but am not really happy with it. I like to "lean" abit when I'm driving, and the HUD is not adjustable. You have to sit up straight to see it.

People on here have installed it themselves, but just reading the DIY instructions makes my head spin. Not something I would want to tackle doing myself. I can't imagine it being cheap either.

Love my HUD - Grouch when I "have" to drive the 2010 without it
Rather large project to convert the 2010's but likely worth the time/effort/$ if it is something you REALLY want. Now if I could get my hubby to consider backup camera on the 2010!!

Yes it was part of my 2LT package, and like a lot of you, I've got accustomed to it, and use it all the time. Only complaint about it is with polarized sunglasses, it's very dim in high light situations. I of course cope (I quit whining and drive).

My question is, would you be able to notice the difference on a 2010 with it installed, and a 2011-20__ heads up display? Would you need to change the windshield? I hear it's a different kind of windshield.
