Any word on aftermarket muffler options?

Just wondering if there was any in the works yet? I know I'll probably get flamed for this, but I'm not very fond of the ZL1's exhaust note. Just my opinion guy's, go easy on me ...

Anyways, I'm excited to start hearing some different mufflers on these things, just haven't heard of any aftermarket ones yet...

With 4 cats on the car I doubt it would be very loud with no mufflers. Butterflies open at the lower rpm would be a good indicator.

Since the exhaust is computer vacuum controlled, will you throw a code if the exhaust is removed? Lol sounds funny to ask tht but its possible with this...

Same here... It's not horrible or anything, I'm just more of a Flowmaster sound kinda guy. Would love to hear the Z with a chambered exhaust similar to Flows...

Nobody said they were disappointed... We all just seem to have different preferences when it comes to exhaust notes/tones...

I've noticed that after it really gets heated up, it changes. The engine is getting a deeper sound when the pipes are hot. And yes, louder pops in idle. But deeper too. Once broken in will be different than new. Best wait it out to see! ??

I think the dual mode exhaust note is aggressive to a point. There probably is room for improvement in both sound and flow catagories. As it stands, I feel it's the best factory delivered system as of date.

I agree... I really like the sound of the stock system. I MAY pull the fuse to get the "good sound" between 1,000 and 3,000 rpms too. I'm just skeptical that the "drone" may be a nuisance at 65 mph.... TBD!!

I have been thinking of doing the same thing, but there have been several guys saying the drone is bad on the highway. I think I'm going to do it anyhow and find out for myself.

I don't know all the details yet due to the fact that the design is starting from scratch, I will have more details this week. I know that it will have the dual tips on each side but I dought it will have the flaps.

BORLA to date does not do the dual mode exhausts to date and I can't picture them completing a system like that in that time frame. billy boat does for corvette's but not camaro's yet. It seems like they would do a fusion system for the ZL-1 eventually since it has the factory dual mode exhaut.

If anyone, especially in Texas, is going to toss the ZL1 exhaust for something else, please let me know. I'm interested in getting the parts at least from the axle back (mufflers + tips) for my Camaro. Thanks.

Might as well try it you can always put the fuse back in, I pulled mine and I love the sound now.

Very interesting... It would be nice to see some bigger pipes and retain dual-mode functionality. It sounds like many have already said there won't be much gain in terms of exhaust (headers included), so it would be nice to see if it would be worth it.
