Can someone explain to me what I am hearing during the tests?

I Can hear the normal engine sound, but there is another sound which to me, reminds me of the VIPER START-UP Sound in the old Battlestar Galactica. Is there a blower or fan of some kind on this car? Could that be what I am hearing?

Sorry for messing that up...

nope..what your hearing is the tires on the drums of the dyno..you will hear it no matter what car you may have up there

I noticed that too. My best guess was that it's the roller on the dyno. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong though.

EDIT: And I type too slow because someone else beat me to it^^^

Question

Wait.... Maybe I'm not getting it. On a 426HP car, you are only getting 355RWHP???? Is that correct?

the engine produces 426hp, but you lose some hp getting it to the wheels.

On a 426 HP car you're getting approximately 362 to the wheels based on the 15% drivetrain loss equation. The fastlane car dynoed lower than 362 because the weather was 85-90 degrees. I say this because dyno was most likely done 2 or so weeks ago, and I live in Houston, and the temps were up there close to 90 at the time.

wouldn't their building be air conditioned? that drive train loss equation isn't 100% accurate. therefore i believe your 362 result compared to the 355 actual result are correct.

More wheel weight= more power used up to turn the wheels. This is the same concept as an aluminum driveshaft freeing up power because of it's lighter than stock weight.
actually, the size does come into play as well because the weight is farther from the center. I remember this being debated all the time in the mustang forums when switching over to an aluminum drive shaft. (the aluminum was lighter, but was also bigger.)

If they are corrected to SAE, then the fact that it is 90* does not matter at all.

What does matter though if infact it was corrected.
Also, some people may ice the intake before dynoing, which will show gains but still be technically stock. i think it's stupid but whatever.

I was contemplating whether the size came into play or not, for some reason I thought only weight was a HP differing factor. Thanks for correcting me on that.

Yeah, well hopefully someone will put smaller and preferably lighter wheels on and have it dynoed.

Hey everyone... I have the dyno file and winPep on my comp, how do i switch it from STD to SAE?

When I videoed the car on the dyno, it was about 95 degrees in the building and no it's not air conditioned in the dyno area...

The reason it's 3" is because it's getting more than just the pipeline intake.

Actually, we have a silver 2SS coming in the next week or two and I believe it's getting a turbo...

Will the black SS in the video have heads/cams or at least cams installed in the future?

not sure. I don't know what the future plans are for it, only that it's not done yet.

If it's corrected, then it won't matter if it was 30* outside or 110.
SAE is about ~2.5% lower than STD.

Your 400 rwhp is really ~390 rwhp SAE.
