ZL1 Sucks?

OK.. Now that I got your attention. I have to know, even though its early in production and alot of folk have not got there ordered cars yet. Is anyone dissapointed with there ZL1? There was alot of talk and speculation over this car, so after you got it was it like the day after Christmas and the excitment is all over.. I plan on getting one in the future either way. But am curious if anyone has any negative reveiws of the car BESIDES the Mustang and Challenger folks.

I really don't want to look like thespymaster there, but that is pretty much how I feel... I keep trying to find something I really don't like and it's just not there... I always want more power so I guess if anything... give me 700 horses...

But the best news of all is, I can have that with very few mod and very little cash.. Try to go 700 on an SS and you'll find out how many other drivetrain parts need to be upgraded as well... I am SpyMaster crazy happy about this too...

I picked mine up Friday and drove it 350 miles to Morgantown, WV. Driving on the winding roads through the mountains......WOW, that is all I can say!!!
Have another 900 or so miles to drive tomorrow to get back to Wisconsin and I can't wait!

I've had mine two weeks now,and I have 827 mi. on the beast
all I can say the only complaint I have is it takes so damn long
to get 1500 miles on it. I just can't wait to get into the real
power of this car,and I can tell its there just waiting to be
tapped into. OMG everyone loves it, as I have the only one
around.

I have a friend that works with my wife and he just bought a 12
Stang 5.0. I let him drive it, and all he said was "damn"

I drove it in a parade on Sat. all positive comments, and Sat.
afternoon in a car show...all I can say is I had to wipe plenty of drool off the paint!!

You guys would be crazy to not enjoy a 580hp Camaro!
I thoroughly enjoy grown men acting like children when describing their happiness with the vehicle.

Well this is one Mustang guy who has driven a ZL1 and who really likes it! My buddy bought a black one with carbon fiber inserts and it looks good and drives very well! The ONLY thing I don't like about it is how the engine looks. An engine like that should not have so many hoses in site that it needs and engine cover to hide them. And even if you bleed CHEVY Red, White, & Blue - you have to at least acknowledge my point. But other than that - I have no complaints. I think GM did a good job with this one. Very fine automobile!

Your looking for an honest answer here from ZL1 owners?

Most people won't buy a car to turn around and say it sucks, unless they are having problems with it.

Who else is he going to get an answer from... someone who's never driven one..

I'm sure you couldn't give an honest answer about your Ford either...

I don't have it yet ,but your right. Most people aren't going to run down their own car unless it's been problems. One honest opinion I can give about the ZL1 though, is that I was supposed to have one by now ,but my dealer and GM didn't care to sell me one so I went with someone that did.

There are very few places to go to get honest answers about any car. Even most of the major media have some type of an agenda that sways their opinions.

I thought you were opening up a contest to finish the sentence. Like:

ZL1 SUCKS..... Mustangs into the intake from 100 yards away

ZL1 SUCKS..... The time/space continuum into oblivion.

ZL1 SUCKS..... Asphalt in and spits out excitement.

MORE???

I feel the exact opposite of this. IMO, I hate the engine covers and all the covers that they put into new cars now to hide everything. I like seeing raw engine and components. When I got my car, the first thing I did was take off the engine cover.

But this engine cover doesn't cover very much so whether it's on or off the hoses are still all over the place which was also a problem on the SS, but the SS cover was bigger and hid better. Most who removed the cover also did hose relocates and put on some nice valve covers... Don't think you'll get much dissagreement that raw engine is the best look but it requires some dressing up to go with it..

A little paint helps too..

I went to a local car show yesterday and parked out on the street so I could show my son who was with me some of the cars there. After a few minutes of walking around my son told me I should probably go back to my car. When I looked back it was surrounded with people.

I have driven it over 2000 miles. So far the only complaint I have is the road noise. There are a few highways around Dallas that are very rough and are noisy in our Acadia. In my ZL1 they are even noisier. As far as everything else goes it is an amazing car.

I took it to the the strip a week or so ago, I did not know it but there was a car club meeting there that day. They would spin there tires in the water and then roll up to the line where the water would just puddle at the line. Needlessly to say my 60 foot times were in the high 2s. It was like drag racing in the rain. My best time was a 13.04 at 115 mph. I believe I can get a second off of my 60 foot. That will put me easily in the low 12s.

I drove it out to east Texas over the weekend and got 20 mpg on the way and 21 on the way back. This includes a 140 mph punch. (Not condoning this!)

In a couple of weeks there is an autocross around here that I will try to make it to. I will try to post a video of it.

So far this car is amazing!

Opposite? Sounds like you actually feel the same as I do. Maybe I wasn't clear. I said the ONLY things I didn't like about the car were the hoses and engine cover. An engine like that needs to be seen, not hidden by hoses and and a cover. And IF those are the only things not to like about the car - you have a pretty darn good car becaue looks are subjective and have nothing to do with performance.

An honest opinion? Ok well honestly I HATE the seats they become extremely uncomfortable to me after even 30 minutes in the drivers seat, I grew up in a racing family and have sat in many racing style buckets over the years and even the seats in my 67 which are basically aluminum buckets with vynil covers and no padding aren't any worse. I do have a bad back injury from football that may be a factor in this but I am also sure that im not the only person in this boat and feel that there should be a seat option for more comfortable seats. But other than that...well let me put it like this, my 67 is 785 hp and I've driven my dads 1200 horse vette but NOTHING has ever gave me the feeling that my Z does.
