Sway bars handling improvement?
hey guys,
Two weeks ago I installed lowering springs on my V6 Camaro and I was impressed buy how tight the car feels now when cornering .... I had planned on buying sway bars too, but now I wonder if they are really needed... I plan on doing some autocross this summer, so my question is... Does aftermarket sway bars significativaly improves handling? If yes, which ones do you guys recommend? (btw I have the eibach 1.0/1.3 lowering springs) thanks, Ed |

Sway bars are one of the biggest bang for your buck suspension upgrades you can make.

My personal preference is for BMR or Pfadt. The stock front bar takes a little patience to remove but overall it isn't hard.

Like mentioned above, the sway bars are some of the biggest single changes you can make to the suspension of your Camaro. Given you've already got a drop spring package installed on the car you should take a look at sway bars next.
Below is a video we took during the development of our sway bar packages. Notice that in the first trip around the skid pad on factory bars the car understeers, or pushes, when the grip limit is approached. With our sway bars not only does the car corner around the skid pad faster, but the overall balance of the car is much more neutral rather than understeer. Take a look at the video below! If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask! |

Auto x, bars will be the biggest help but the combo would be optimum since you have springs already. Then add sticky tires which seem to do the most good and you are set.To give you an idea, we have courses where the speed is in the 41-44 second range. I have a stock 2012 SS and best so far is 42.9. Guys with the 2010-11 with springs and sways, stock tires are in the 42.1-42.5 range. With better tires and rims they are in the 40-41.5 area.

![]() Sway bars are definitely recommend and a very important items to improve the hadling on your Camaro. They are one of the "best bang for the buck" mods and will be one of the mods you can feel the most. A good set of lowering springs and sway bars will really give the car a nice balanced feel.

Why not pedders? Just curious- as many of the members on here rave about pedders. Is it the cost why your excluding it, or is it just your personal reasons?

Do it. You can't go wrong with any of the above.
