Kenwood DNX9990 and Scosche and JL amp/subs installed

Well over the last week i have been doing my install

onstar module, kenwood ipod cables, steering controls, reverse camera and XM module install not that bad, my first stereo install but being a mechanic made it pretty smooth. i have 2 sub covers on the way also.
i purchase everything from Double D mods (forum vendor) Dennis and Devan (his daughter) are super to work with. they were quick to answer, super friendly, great experience overall.
here is their info

Lupe,
As mentioned above I have this exact set up ready to install (minus the subs and the amp I have is simply the BA replacement).

I am trying to decide if I want to have a pro do it or do it myself.

On a scale from 1-10 what is the difficulty of this one (1 being even a caveman could do it and 10 being you better be a rocket electronics technician for this)

and... how long did it take you?

I wish I was in New Braunfels already.... I'd pay you to do it for me!
I'm in N. Dallas.

Thanks-
Eric

EDIT: I have been quoted $400 to install the head unit, scosche kit and back up camera..... what do you think Lupe? Fair price or should i just do this myself?????

The Kenwood models have been discontinued. They were removed from DDs around Thanksgiving. There being replaced by a new model coming out in the Spring. There's still.a few authorized dealers that have them in stock, Crutchfield for one, as.well.as.a.few.others

be sure to remember (at least my kit) required a diode or resistor (or something like that) to be added into a wire to get the steering wheel controls to work.

I had mine installed by a local shop which was a huge mistake... I knew more about camaro installs than they did... and this was not a small shop.
After 3 visits they tried to tell me the OnStar would not work without the factory amp.... but they could sell me MORE parts to make it work... they are wrong... they just installed my amp incorrectly even though I provided them a harness that would have made it plug/play and OnStar would have worked. Now I have to go in and fix their screw up. (and they scratched my custom painted console)

It's best to take a weekend and go slow and DIY.

Thanks for the heads up... I was actually lucky enough to find that on the Scosche page and order it 2 weeks ago... amazing, $0.99 for a pack of 5 components makes a world of difference! I'm making about an hour drive for the install... here's what I have; let me.know if you think I'm missing anything plz!

9990DX
Scosche kit w antenna.adapter
SWI-RC connectors
Resistors
USB to micro USB extension
Parking brake/video bypass harness
Kenwood.210 camera
16gb SD card

I "think" that's everything I need...

Painter messed up the Scosche kit... had to redo tonight. Should be good tomorrow... hopefully.

BTW- nice taste in wheels- I had my SLPs b4 I even had the car; lol!
