loose feeling with 20" mickeys

Im running 20" mickey thompsons on my stock wheels and I have about 700rwhp with a auto. When im getting on the car its got a odd loosness feeling as my speed picks up, and no my tires arent spinning. It doesnt get better as I would of thought once I get into third. Ive had high horespower cars before and ive never felt it like this. It feels like im on a 15 drag slick kinda feeling. I didnt have this when I was running about 580 rwhp. I didnt know if the side walls are soft enough at higher power levels to feel like this. Anybody else with my power levels and running this tire have any input? It walks back and forth

Do you have another set of wheels/tires to swap to try and narrow down if it's your problem? Seems like the easiest way to tell for sure.

I have the same set-up. Was running 25 hot tonight. M6 I got into it in 2nd and third and noticed the looseness some under power in those gears. Probably more than the stock tires, but these aren't spinning. Kind of the same walk back and forth.. I was wondering if it was the sidewall or the tires following the road under grip? I'm at 740rwhp. I've also noticed I can spin the tires on the wheels a little depending on launch. Boy they hook WAY better than the Nitto NT05R's that's for sure

The looseness you refer to is an inherit characteristic of DR's even in a low profile version because the sidewalls are not reinforced like a regular street radial. The issue is compounded when running stock tires (especially the super stiff GY's) on the front. I run the same tire but at 29-30 psi and 32 psi on the stock front GY's for street use which was the best balance point for my set up.

Im only at 646whp and run 18" Mickeys but find the same kind of squirm when I drive to the track. I also figured it was because of the soft sidewalls.
