Got my first Onstar Diags report.

Man they knew everything about the car, right down to tire pressure. Scary they may even know how fast I have gone in it and what RPM's she has ran.

Even if they could report it, good luck proving it was you at the wheel.

Did you request the info or did they automaticly send it? It could get a little anoying if it is automaticly sent every 3-400 miles. Or is it on a certain date every so often?

When you do your Onstar Welcome Call they ask you if you want your monthly diagnostics report sent to you. Myself being a techie said sure and this is my first one. I will get on once a month as long as I keep my Onstar account.

I plan on keeping Onstar, it saved a friends of mine life when she had a wreck on a two lane road and went down into a gully.

you do know that will start wearing the center of your tread out faster than the outsides, right? it can also reduce traction, especially on wet surfaces, due to the reduced size in contact patch from over-inflation.

not saying a psi or two is a big deal, but habitually running higher pressure can do those things over time.

just so you know...
and knowing is half the battle!!

I bought my wife a new traverse the first week they were out and it sends the same thing once a month. No it does not tell speeds or anything like that it is used primarily for your benefit like theft deterrent and basic maintenance stuff like oil change reminder. It is actually a good tool to have.

Did you know if the check engine light comes on you can call them and they can check the code? Thats pretty cool by itself... And also you can set it up with your insurance and if you are a "safe" driver your rate will drop...

They have biometric sensors in the steering wheel. When you first get the car and the dealer walks you through the OnStar registration process they get a sample reading from you. So yes, they can show it was or wasn't you behind the wheel.

Maybe that reading was taken after running the car on the highway for awhile, zebra. The 36psi is cold pressure of course, and my 350Z usually climbs about two psi after running at highway speeds for a few minutes. Just a thought. Scott should check in-car right after starting out.

And a built-in prestart breathalizer too I'll bet.

Even if your subscription to OnStar runs out don't they have a basic safety portion? I thought it would activate if you got into an accident even if you were not a subscriber? anyone know for sure?
