1500 miles!! You've got to be ****in kidding me!

I physically cannot do it. I cannot keep my foot out of it for 1500 miles. I have 30 miles on it now am fighting myself to keep the loud pedal off the floor. This thing just wants to wind out!!!

The agony. Only 1470 more miles.

Exactly what happened to that car, and how did it happen, and why would putting a brick under the GAS pedal cause that???

I'm curious.

1500 miles is too long. I have yet to read why it is so long. It makes no mechanical sense to me.

Engine CTS-V is not 1500 miles
Tranmission other cars are not 1500miles
Mag ride No other models are 1500 miles
rear end no gear manfacture I know of has this kind of milage

What is unique to this car that drives this??? there is no way I will make it. I am not even going to try.

Too HOGNUTZ the answer is the oil now used is the reason the for a longer breakin. Mobil 1 is used and it is synthetic,so rings won't seat in till around 1500 mi. You may drain that oil out and put in regular organic oil and break in the engine much sooner but then it will be hard to switch back.

Really...what makes you say that?

I've gone from conventional to synthetic on 5 cars now and never had a problem. The only time I've heard of issues is when people do the switch to synthetic on higher mileage motors.

Shouldn't be hard to get 1500 miles on it by the end of this weekend, remember this weekend is 3 day holiday so 500 miles a day would not be difficult.

It's taking me a lot longer since I don't drive mine every day. I've had it a little over a month and have less than 600 miles on it. I'd follow Fbodfather's advice. GM wouldn't recommend the interval if it weren't in the best interest of the owners.

Corvettes have been using mobil one for years no 1500 mile break in. So unless the LS7 and LSA get run differnt at the build plants you logic does not work out.

It wasn't that long ago that you weren't suppose to go over 55MPH for 500 miles.....This is a breeze compared to that...lol

No - you don't have to listen.

I suggest you do.

If I'm going to spen $60-70k for a car (ZL1 Vert), I'm not about to question the factory break-in reccomendations.

I have to admit, it is hard (especially when these car turn other drivers around you in to morons) , but I've been good so far. I got my Z yesterday and just cracked 100 miles.

I did it with my SS. Nothing over 4000RPM, stay under 80MPH, no hard starts. Lots of highway driving varying speeds and city between. Yes I think the issue of full synthetic oil and taking longer for the rings to break-in is true besides all the bearings through the vehicle. Got 1600+ now and think I've got a strong vehicle.

I agree and the first 1,500 miles is really just a drop in the bucket compared to how long you'll have the car !

Bandit38: On a CD "Smokey And The Bandit" Bert does a side talk on how the movie made ballistic Tans-Am sales for Pontiac and how he got a letter from the GM CEO telling him how he was going to receive a free Trans-Am.............Bert complained that he never got the car.
Had a friend with one that had a 455 SD (Super Duty) that would smoke the rear tires. I tried to order a '73 Pontiac Grand-Am with the 455 SD but the factory would only install the regular 455 ci. That went pretty good with the first new radial tires.

So what component reqires this odd break in schedule then? Or is this some revised schedule for the lsa?

Most of the parts on this car taken from vehicles with shorter break in periods.
