For those of you painting the engine covers and fuse boses, are you guys using summit white paint or just a regular white paint?? I need to paint my engine cover and intake but i dont have time to wait for shipping time to get summit white paint.. can you guys please advice me what to do?? Should i wait and order summit white or would any white paint be close enough???

I have painted my entire interior using Rustolem white paint from home depot. It matches perfectly to Summit White

Absolutely. I painted my engine compartment with it too but it was on my LT so it wasnt white but the same kind of paint. You dont need high temp paint for these pieces. Heres a pic if my previous LT

I also did not use Summit White paint when painting my interior or engine bay pieces. The white looks great with the rest of the car.

well this is good to hear. Thank you guys. I am set to accomplish this. One more question, what do you guys think of painting the middle part of the rotors white?? I have black wheels. I am going to be painting the calipers orange red.

I painted mine black, my calipers are pink. Its easy to do. Id rethink white tho. You'll see a lot of brake dust and dirt very easily. I didnt want to draw attention to that part of the wheel but thats my opinion.

Thats what I painted mine, gloss black. It looks very clean. Ive actually had folks at car shows comment on how clean my wheels are. I clean the inside of wheels and with this part being black, it makes it look even better. It doesnt draw attention to it but it gives it a cleaner look. Heres a pic: I wasnt worried about runs or making it perfect. You only see the top edge so it doesnt matter.

Most of it does just snap off. I did a search online about diy and found a lot of good info.

I used newspaper to cover everything up. I had a razor blade on hand to get off any paint that got on the rotor. I used high temp engine paint with rust paint already in it. Its super thin so make sure you have a pan underneath to catch any paint that drips off.

If you are painting something under the hood, or inside, it doesnt need to match summit white, NO one will be able to tell you its not the same shade of white because these parts arent against the exterior paint to be compared to.

Just get any Gm white, or arctic white type name and you will be good
