Is this also a problem with the OEM short throw Hurst shifter in the 2012 SS?

No, this is for the aftermarket Hurst only. OEM no issues.

So I got mine installed but I had an interesting issue that I didn't see mentioned in this forum. When I went to press my bushings into the shifter they actually fell in almost perfectly. I though wow, this will be easy, but it actually made it impossible to burnish the pin! With about two beers and enough working with the hole setup to get the bushings to stop spinning in the housing I decided to tap the pin in the bushing with a small rubber hammer. This actually was not that bad! I was able to push it through one side better than the other so when I installed the shifter back into the car I just tapped it into the easy side and secured it. I just hope I don't need to remove it anytime soon!

Overall, it is all worth the pain to put these in! I love the shifter again like I got it brand new! Thanks for the kit, it is well worth the price!

Ive put somewhere in the neighborhood of 7000 miles since I installed these and no issues. Shifter is better then new and I've made a couple dozen runs on the 1/4 and I drive it like I stole it. Its worth it.

What he said. Absolutely worth the price. Makes this shifter what it should have been out of the box.

I've had mine for a good while now after going thru 3 sets of the Hurst bushings! It still as tight as it was the day I installed them.

Well worth the money they cost since the only other option was buying a MGW shifter for 200-300 dollars more!

I've also installed them in 2 of my customers cars and they also love em!

Has anyone had to purchase the dust boot that covers the shifter? I guess I didnt get mine on properly and it came off and melted against the turning driveshaft.... How much are replacements and are they easy to install? Man did I know when it came off as the rubber smell was incredible!!

Try this part # 92233390 it's the shifter assembly only way you will
get dust boot.I remove dust boot from shifter Assembly. Sold the
shifter Assembly on ebay to re-coop some of the cost. This was about
two years ago. Cost was about $130.00. GMPartsdirect

Just put these in my ride this week.. What I COULDN'T do is get the shifter back out... as you know those little bolts that hold the shifter in from under the car strip out VERY easily. I tried and tried to get them out and could not... So i ended up sticking the brass fitting on a drill and spinning it on sandpapper to sand it down just a bit so I could press them in by hand from under the car.

I also sanded a bit on the inside so I could slide the pin through them easy.. Still had to use my ratchet and hammer it in though. First impressions while the car is up on jack stands still... DAMN SOLID...
