Electrics NEWBIE - live wiring or not ?

Following on from my Topic about removing the Front Wheel Liners to get access to replace the UK IVA side indicators:
http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=225386

Now I can get inside behind the door hindges [see photo's] I can see the wiring.
Can I just go ahead and disconnect the read and the Black?
Do I have to disconnect the battery, fuses, something, first?
FYI the ignition is off.

I've done it ! :-)

Removed the old Side Indicator and striped the wires for adding Crimp Connectors...

Stripped off the Rubber padding, gotta hate the UK IVA Regs for vehicle lighting :-(

Kept all the extra wiring length from the new 8-LED Side Indicators, added crimp spade connections, wrapped in electrical insulation tape... should all make it easier for next time I need to be back here...

Tidied the wires back into the body cavity and cable-tied in place...

And this is why I did it all to begin with...

Now for the other side :-)
