There's one held the last Saturday of each month here in Normal. It's at Moe's Restaurant on the north end of town, just off I-55. It's from 11-1 so it's called Cars and Taco's. https://www.facebook.com/#!/events/390626217717153/

This Saturday, I'm going to be at a Cruise-In Benefit for the Wish Bone Canine Rescue. It's at Bob Taylor's Classic Auto in Bloomington. It's right off I-74 at the US-51 crossing. The cruise-in registration is at 3 and the show is from 4-8pm. There are no awards given out, just a good time to be had. Everyone is welcome, come on out! https://www.facebook.com/events/165730876927294/

yeah, the cars & taco's event is what I was referring to! I gotta go on a massive work trip so i'll probably be gone for 2-3 months and wanted to get out to something before I left so perhaps I'll try to make it out to Bloomington on Saturday.

Come on out if you can. Since it's a cruise-in, you can come and go as you please.

2-3 months....

Atma, It was nice meeting you and your girlfriend today. Sorry you have to take off for the next few months. Maybe you'll make it back in time for a meetup before old man winter arrives.

I'll do some asking around and see if there's someone in Champaign qualified to touch a Camaro.

I have yet to find a shop in champaign that does it all, there are a bunch of places that do a great job in specific items. If you want exhaust work Reds muffler shop is the place to go. Looks like a place I would never take my car but they do good work. Beaumont alignment does lowering spring and such, supposed to best in town. There is a new place here in Mahomet that is supposed to do custom work, but it looks like mostly classics. I went in there and asked a few questions but, they really have not got their stuff together. No lifts or anything, but they do have a few drag cars in there. My dad works with a guy who knoes cars so, I just ask him about were to take the car for whatever I am wanting done. So far I have done just about everything myself on the car.

How about paint work in ChamBana? Isn't there a custom paint shop around there? I remember seeing some guys at the Parkland car show in 2012 with some cars and bikes.

I appreciate the advice. actually, i have a small spot of paint missing from the front of the car. it's not much, but unfortunately it's right at the point on the front of the car, right below the upper grill. because of where it is, i'm just not convinced that a touch-up will ever look perfect. the guys insurance company agreed and paid out on the claim. In Baltimore I had gotten an estimate on a full bumper repaint from a highly recommended shop near my house but before I left I just didn't really have the down time and I wanted to keep as much cash on hand for the move as possible. now i'm in a new area where i don't know much around me and I need a really good, reputable, trustworthy body shop to do this repaint. If I have to drive out of town to have peace of mind while it's in the shop, I will. obviously it would be better if i didn't have to, but any help anyone can offer is greatly appreciated.

There's a body shop near me (40 min from champaign) that does good work. He started out as a dent shop and since expanded into a full body shop. I trust him to work on my car (painted my interior and hood) so if you want his info I can pass it along.

I have a friend that owns a body shop but not real sure on the quality of work he does. Everything that I have seen that he has done looks neal nice to me. He does however, have a guy who can airbrush real well.......some of the best work I have seen. I can ask around though and see what I can find out for you.
