New 2Lt subwoofer question

What's up guys. Obviously new to this site but I purchased a new 2Lt rs two weeks ago and am looking to upgrade the sound system. Honestly the Boston acoustic is fine with me minus the bass. Soo

Looking for a sub and amp not too big 10" or 12"
No max on price
Nothing too obnoxious

Thanks

Welcome to the site and congrats on your new car! I believe I've heard people give praise to JL subs, but there is definitely other brands out there.

If you need help with an amp, the best thing to do is pick the sub you want to go with first. This way you can pick an amp that best suits the power needs of your sub. In most cases you will get a mono amp for a sub. Yes, JL is one of my personal favorites as well, but there are a lot of great brands out there. Try to find a local place to check some out to see what suits your taste.

I have a 2LT/RS and had a JL Audio 12w3v3 sitting around, so I picked up an Alpine MRP-M500 ($199) and a sub enclosure ($165).... The amplifier bass boost is at zero, the gain is set just below center, and I keep the bass on my factory head unit set to -10 when my wife is in the car.... between 0 & -4 when she's not in the car.... My wife loves country & rock music, my son loves Dubstep & rap, and I think it all sounds 10x better with some low end added to the BA system... I'm extremely pleased with the setup.

Excellent advice here. Pick your sub first, then pick your amp. Best bet is to match the RMS watts of the sub to the RMS of the amp. For example: if your sub is rated at 1000W RMS, you would want an amp that produces 800-1000W RMS.

That's nice and clean. SubThump enclosures are fantastic.

Yes, 75 to 110% of what the sub can handle is what you will want to shoot for in terms of power. The Alpine amp (MRP-M500) that Darkrider has is one of the most popular sub amps that we sell.
