A couple years ago the guys at Top Gear (Brit version, of course) put this nonsense to an interesting test.

They got a Prius and a BMW M3 and set off in the Toyota 'round their test track as fast as it would go. The BMW simply had to keep up.

After some number of laps they computed the fuel economy. The Prius scored 17.3 mpg while the M3 scored 19.4.

Their verdict was "if you want a car to drive as fast as a Prius can go, buy an M3."

The battery-powered people are overly simple in their understanding of how the world works. They don't know, don't understand, that the lithium required for all these LiIon battery packs is a more precious commodity than oil and on a par with gold and platinum. It's non-renewable. And it is found in, and controlled by, countries whose interests are as contrary to ours as any nation in the Middle East.

I would have pushed my OnStar button right in front of her and said, "Please send a medic to my location, some fat bitch is unconscious...better bring a large stretcher."

Always try and use proper terminology. The thing to ask for is a "bariatric rig".

let it roll off your back and Here in arkansas it's a FEDERAL Offense to launch a projectile from a car and a coke bottle falls under that category, we had someone do jail time for throwing a slushy cup a year or so ago. And If you ever run into a snotty prius owner Remind them that Just Building their car Puts out more toxins into the air than our camaro's do over then entire life spans.

Um...

States can't determine what is a "federal offense". And there is nothing in the Arkansas Criminal Code that addresses this other than good ol' fashioned "Littering" (:8 - 6 - 406)

I love that people like that don't have a problem with the soccer mom SUVs or the full-size pick-up trucks that never carry anything larger than grocery bags that get MPG in the low teens.

I drove my SS 500 miles the other day, averaging 75 mph, and got 25 mpg. I'll take that over my wife's RAV4 that only gets 22 mpg.

I let it go on for about 5 minutes, then asked him... so you want to line them up? well, no, his car still isn't getting enough fuel... but kept on about how far behind GM is in gas mileage... once again, I stopped him and said "wasn't Hondas last true sports car the S2000"... he said, yeah... I then said and "have you ever compared its gas mileage to a C6 Vette of the same era? because the Vette actually gets around the same mpg, while being over a second faster through the 1/4 and while making more torque idling than the S2000 does at peak"....

I know these cars don't get but high teens at best, but really... I don't care, I have a work car, this is my play car... I drive it on weekends, if I wanted gas mileage, i'd bought a Cruze
People like this haven't got a CLUE....all they "know" is that American cars suck and simply can't compete technology-wise, MPG-wise, and safety-wise with Honda, Toyota, (insert other foriegn made name here).

I'd love to slap some truth into these people and wake them up, but it will never happen. The stigma is here to stay for awhile, and the only way out is for American cars to be as good or better than the competition for another decade and by then this generation will know better.

I just rev the engine up to about 4500rpms with the clutch in and say " I'm sorry, I cant hear you over the sound of how awesome my car is" That usually does it.

Brother, people are going to hate, no matter what you are doing. Not because of you or what you are doing, but because they are miserable people and they have to take it out on somebody. Misery loves company, so miserable people are going to try to bring everyone else down with them. You did the right thing by rolling up your window.
A quote I try to live by..."Never argue with stupid people. They will bring you down to their level, and beat you with experience".
