I like the tail end. The last pic is amazing but there's no trunk. I'd still rather have my 5th gen though.

Like a fish? what are they on and where an I get some?

I prefer the 'cuda over the challenger, but Camaro beats them all. Very nice finds.

there was a ps3 game that my friend dl'd the demo to off of the playstation store for his ps3 that had a car that looked EXACTLY the same as those pics above. I don't remember the name though but it just came out, I'll edit with the name when I remember it.

Probably same story as the Trans-Am. I mean Chrysler group has some pretty drastic plans to reduce badge engineering and overlap, like making Chrysler all cars, Dodge all trucks, and Jeep all SUVs, and making a Cuda would be going in the exact opposite direction. Detroit is slowly learning that having the exact same car across multiple product lines just dilutes sales numbers and multiplies marketing costs.

Thats true, re-bagding isn't really working all that well. I mean when you got someone who has a silverado and then someone who has a sierra .... Whats the diff?? The name. It's all GM

Same with ford .... F150 meet ur brother the Lincoln Mark XLT

Although the mustang has no sibling anymore being that they changed the cougar around to a sedan :(

It all depends on how the badge engineering is executed. The early Camaros and Firebirds had different engine and suspension setups along with different interior and exterior styling. In that case, the overlapping models could be justified to an extent. On the other hand, when you get to the later models that were differentiated by only interior and exterior styling, it really became harder to justify having both.

In the case of the Silverado/Sierra and F150/Mark, it really is a case of different trim levels. Clearly the Lincoln is more upscale than the Ford. And increasingly you'll see that GMC is positioned to be more upmarket than Chevy. So as long as GMC models are clearly pricier, more upscale versions of their Chevy counterparts, their existence is justified.

In the case of Saturn, the products aren't differentiated so much as the dealer network. Saturns may be pretty much identical to their Chevy, GMC, Pontiac, or Buick counterparts, but Saturn buyers will buy them because Saturn dealers and the Saturn buying experience are clearly unique.

Still, even if overlapping models can be justified, in times of shrinking market share or even an overall shrinking market it can be a smart move to cut one of those models to save on marketing costs, improve on economies of scale, and consolidate sales numbers. There are also costs associated with fuel mileage and safety testing, so you can see the costs of overlapping models can easily outweigh the benefits of more precisely catering to specific tastes.

The Cougar's a sedan? In what country? The Cougar is dead and should stay that way....that last offering they put out was crap and only tarnished the name.

Of course, that it true a lot of times when a company uses an iconic name.

Not sure I like the new models all that much, seems that the front end slopes down more than original pics. I like the original concept pics.

I hadn't noticed the slope untill somebody mentioned it...and though it may just be the angles, I wouldn't doubt they added a bit of 4th-gen 'flare' to it for aerodynamics.
