SS Hood Questions...

Is the air intake different on the SS's with the ram air hood? If so, how?

Aftermarket hood. MPD1.com is site. Hood runs about $880. Designed to work with CAI intake box.

I'm confused... was this posted in the general 5th gen SS forum and then moved to the 4th gen section?

If you're referring to the 4th gen SS, there is nothing different from a Z28 in the intake area. The SS scoop "bull horns" around to the underside leading edge of the hood with small openings into the under side of the air lid box. The WS6's were the only cars to receive a larger opening to the underside of the air lid box.

As someone who's had both a Z28 and SS in LS1 guise, my opinion is that the SS hood is more aesthetic rather than functional.

There are seals on the rad support and on each side of the scoop opening under the hood to try and force air flow to the air filter opening,. SLP also installed a foam "rod" in the rear hood seal, exact reason for that isn't clear.

Unscientific tests have been used by owners and the ram air does indeed work on later model 4th gen Camaro SS's, but its pretty much what demonspeed said about being more for looks than function.
