Amp/Sub/Speaker Help

Before I spend my money I want to ensure I get the right stuff.

I already know I want to replace the factory BA amp and am going with either the JL HD 900/5 or Alpine PDX V-9. Both have 4x100rms and 1x500 rms.

Where I am confused is with the 1x500 rms at 1/2/4ohms, should I be looking for a sub that is at 500rms or higher or lower? I also see that they say "Peak 1500 watts" etc. What is best for the 1 channel at 500 rms? I am currently looking at Alpine Type S or R and JL 10W7. The 10W7 is rated at 750rms and the Type S is 500watt rms.

Thanks

Also, depending how much room it would take an alpine 400.4 and another amp could be possible, depends if its within my budget.

I usually try to match Sub RMS with amp RMS. The peak thing is a crap shoot from what I hear. That help any?

Yes, don't focus on the peak power rating on the sub. Just focus on matching the RMS power of the amp to the sub. Generally if you will power a sub within 75 to 110% of what its RMS power range is, then you are right where you need to be for that sub to perform well.
