Aftermarket Radio

So for everyone who has upgraded their Radio for aftermarket, what did you lose over stock? I know you lost the setting function, but what about reverse signal? Onstar? just in general.. I might be upgrading next my radio but want to know what Im getting myself into.

My understanding is that you retain the settings functions with both kits (not sure how the Metra works, but the Scosche has a settings menu). Onstar requires a seperate module, and I have no clue about the reverse signal.

metra kit install guide, should have all the info you need. Not sure where Scosche put their manual, maybe someone has a digital copy? Most of the outputs (reverse, speed pulse, etc) will be converted from CAN data to outputs in the radio kit brain.

Nope. For now, the BA speakers will do.. Eventually, after this big purchase, I might venture into doing the speakers...

PS... Thank you for your service! I am retired USAF myself...

Thank you.
Well I have all the speakers and Amps and Subwoofers and Radio just sitting in my garage from my old car. Everything is pretty much new. Just need to pick a dash kit. either metra or scosche. but before I do that I wanted to make sure I can keep at least the backup signal. It is needed. I cant see much.

Best advice i can give you....get a back up camera for it...my back up sensors quit working out of the blue one day, so i invested in a scoshe kit and a back up camera..best investment I've made so far when it comes to this topic..trust me, you can't go wrong with it
