No warranty because I bought my Camaro from Canada?? WTF

Okay guys so I used to live in Canada and now I moved to Virginia... I went to my Chevrolet dealerahip the other day and they told me that I don't have a warranty + I can't get any extended warranty because I have a Canadian car is this even possible ??

My Milage is 23K miles .. And I also called GM Canada and they told me that I already have a warranty!! But the dealership kept saying no and it's because my vehicle has diplomatic tags and I bought it from Canada this is so weird !!!!

What should I do?
Thanks

Find a new dealer!

Warranty is warranty..its all factory backed.....dealers get re-imbursed for the repairs...most just dont want to bother because they cant over charge you..its a set price and not negotiable. They consider warranty lost time even though the factory makes good on it.

Try Pohanka in Chantilly, or maybe McKay in Fairfax.

I've heard this before. Vehicles moved from thier original county lose the warranty. Someone else posted on this awhile back on a vehicle moved to the middle east.

That does not sound right, I would complain to the higher ups at GM, how can one be discriminated based on country?

From the Owners Manual -

Warranty Service – United
States, Canada, and Mexico
The selling dealer has invested in
the proper tools, training, and parts
inventory to ensure that any
necessary warranty repairs can be
made to your GM vehicle. GM
requests that the vehicle be
returned to the selling dealer for all
warranty repairs. If a situation or
event occurs where you are
significantly inconvenienced, an
authorized GM dealer can make the
warranty repairs.
However, in the
event the dealer is not able to
perform the repair due to the special
tool and training requirements,
contact the Customer Assistance
Offices on page 40. If you are
unable to return to the selling
dealer, contact a GM dealer in the
United States, Canada or Mexico for
warranty service.

That dealer IS an idiot, I would say you are being discriminated against IMO.

The whole US to Canada and Canada To US hinges on what the Canadians call a compliance letter. You shouldve got it before you left Canada. Your Canadian dealer Might help, but probably gonna cost you.I sold a Harley to a Canadian and hes having trouble getting it across the border let alone warranty it.
I'm pretty sure yhat compliance letter will do it for you.

I'd call GM direct, but I think you are gong to find that US GM will not honor the warranty on a Canadian purchased vehicle.

I'd take it straight back to that dealer in VA. If you read the their disclaimer, you'll be able to take it to an "authorized GM Dealer", and it appears that they are talking about North America. It's in black and white, and GM made the rules. I believe they have to legally live up to them. Screw driving all over creation to find a Dealer willing to do the warranty work! I wouldn't leave till you got the service you deserve!

Yep tell them you will call a GM rep then and there to help resolve the issue if they refuse to cooperate. Make sure you have the phone # ready. Also, take heed and use caution if you feel you're being discriminated.

if you call that GM CS # be sure to ask for an American rep on American soil. They have to transfer you, and you get better results speaking with a US rep.
