NHRA Camaro

Congrats to Greg Anderson winning the summer nationals. He had a new camaro body on his car. He beat his teamate Jason Line. It won its first time out.

I spoke with Greg during the race, and he feels that this is going to be a leathal car in the class. I don't think Stanfields car is gonna make this much noise. It's a shame that he was not there this weekend, would have been cool to see 2 of them in the class.

Next week Jason Line gets his Camaro so he will make number three. I wonder if Greg was doing more testing and changes due to the fact he was not doing so well in his new Camaro.

LOL! Yes congrats, but Line gave the race to him....look at the time slips. He lifted just before the stripe to let Greg past (not uncommon within teams) or Jason would have won the round. There was a lot at stake...100th win. first with the camaro (to please Chevy), etc. so can't blame them......but he only won because Jason let him by.

I know that's the scenario in your mind, but there is no evidence to support your theory. The 100th win was for Ken Black, not Greg or Jason. So it wouldn't matter which one of them won the race. They have never "tanked" a race when a championship was on the line. Why would they fix this race? Jason's ET and MPH indicate a wounded car, not a car that was shut off early. If Jason was told to "Let Greg win", I'm pretty sure He would have been told to not give an interview after the race. I know that teams sometimes have to follow "orders", but this was not one of those scenarios. There is no up-side to Jason throwing that race.

This was big win for the Chevrolet Camaro, there was some skepticism with other GM Pro Stock teams using the Camaro, thinking it was too wide. Good MPH with Anderson's Camaro right up there with Jason Line and faster than Alan Johnson's Hemi. Last Camaro win was in 2000. Sooner or later the GM Pro Stock teams will have to switch bodies due to NHRA's age rule. How about the new NASCAR car the Chevrolet SS model due in 2013 Sprint Cup?

They also had a couple of camaro pro mods there too. Jay Payne, and Mike Castellana.

You may be right....but we will never know for sure. Remember, we race with all these teams and have for years and have seen it all up close and personal, and I have to agree that usually they "run it out" , but there were a bunch of us that came to that conclusion. Either way, they have been, and will continue to be dominant in the class and I love seeing the Gen5 camaro out there (allthough not much about it other than the graphics make it a camaro). The Gator Nationals would have been a good introduction if Jim Greenheck had not dropped a valve in pre qual testing runs.

I can't believe that anyone, who knows anything about drag racing, would think that Jason tanked that race. When you see the race, and what Jasons' car ran, it doesn't look like a "fixed" race at all. Greg drove around Jason just past 1000 feet. Yet Jason crossed the finishline going just over 200 mph. If Jason lifted at 1000', He would have crossed the line at a much slower speed. There were probably 20 ways that they could have "fixed" that race. All of them would have been better and less obvious. If you think that race was fixed, then you're trying to create controversy where there isn't any.

It's a good thing that a moderator "moved" this thread. I'm starting to understand why this forum isn't very popular.
