Cig lighter

Anyone know if any of our 12 V charging sources are on all the time? Im trying to plug in something that I want to power so that when I turn on and off the car the power doesn't cycle on and off with ignition.

ALL of the internal power in our cars POWER OFF when the ignition is turned off. The only way that you have have a "HOT" socket at all times is to rewire it straight to the battery source power.

Yep thats right, you have to wire in a new one. I went to walmart and bought a cig lighter for 5 bucks and wired it to the battery with a switch so I can turn it off. I wanted to charge my phone when the car was off. Kinda annoying not having the option to have it on.

On page 5-5 in the owner's manual, it states:

Power Outlets
The vehicle has two accessory power outlets; one is located below the climate control system and the other is inside the center console storage. They can be used to plug in electrical equipment, such as a cell phone or an MP3 player. The accessory power outlets do not work when the key is removed from the ignition and the driver door is opened. This helps to preserve the battery life of the vehicle.

I hope this information was helpful.

I have been considering the use of a momentary button and relay. My plan is to set it up so that if I press my button, the cigarette lighter will provide power, even when the car is off. But the next time I start the car, it will revert to losing power when the car is off (unless the button is pressed again).

Check out this: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...52&postcount=3

Most of the blanks on the fuse panel are already always hot.
