Completely offended with the human race.

So I am training to run a full marathon currently. I am running outside in the blistering heat to build up some immunity an also to get in roughly 10 miles a day. So I am about 7 miles in to my run and I am huffing it, in my rear I hear a car coming up on the road, mind you I am running on a side walk about 7-10 feet from the road, out of nowhere some punk ass kids hit me with a hand full of change from behind. Now it wasn't that I got hurt or anything, a quarter at any speed is not gonna hurt my thick skin but seriously!?!? Are you kidding me!?!? I am 24 pretty young but I never remember doing shot like that.

Kids these days, the future generations are screwed.

I am by far the wrong person to hit with something, I am 6'1" and 235 of muscle. If they were to stop and me catch them would be the end of atleast one of the kids careers in any sport. I would probably be charged with battery for how much damage i would cause.

Okay I may actually not do that but, jeesh if i were in the moment i dont know what i would do.

I know a couple people that run. They got to where they will carry 1-2 1/2" dia ball bearings in their pocket just for things like this. They will break a back window pretty easily.

They also carry mace and a tazer because runners are very easily targeted.

You know how you win? You pick up those quarters and go buy yourself a gatorade at the end of your run.

seriously.....if I were to be out running in a fairly remote area.....and was someone with a carry licence.....someone might think twice.....I wouldn't shoot AT THEM, but at least they might think again when they head the shots ring out.

But seriously OP, you can't let those kind of people get to you. You're training for a marathon and they're driving around throwing quarters at people. Find comfort in the fact that those kids are probably going to end up at alternative high schools serving you your lunch while you're busting your ass for success.

Yep, a quarter falling out of your pocket or a washer falling off the motorcycle seems to back up a tail-gater, the other thing is if they try to run me off the road. You'd be surprised how many people think its funny to pass and not completely get in the other lane or tail-gate.

That always amazed me when I used to ride. So many car drivers give no respect to bikes... part of the reason I quit riding. Sure do miss it though.

About a month ago near here a 60 yo jogger was shot and killed during his morning run. Shooter was from a passing car. No suspects and no reason.

I just got my motorcycle license. They did not teach me about rocks and ballbearings in the motorcycle safety class. Maybe that's for the advanced rider's class. However, I do have a carrying permit.

They Threw Quaters!!! wow in my day we just threw pennys, must be inflation for ya... JK I never have thrown stuff at anyone.

Seriously, kids nowadays are not scared of getting into trouble. Parents can't whip them anymore without being accused of child abuse and the cops just don't seem to care.

lots of years past in San Diego I was an auto mechanic, rode a mc to and from work on mostly I5 and I8. always kept a handfull of bearings from old ball bearing wheel bearings, in the pocket of my riding coat...
Very interesting what a ball bearing will do at 65 mph when it "falls" out of the pocket and hits the pavement.

People that do things like that give all motorcyclists a bad rep. Actually there are some motorcycle riders that feel they own the road and they can ride any way they want, cutting between cars at stoplights to get in front of the line for one, another is wizzing through traffic at high speeds weaving between cars. Driving in residential areas doing wheelies. It only takes a few bad apples to ruin it for everyone. Both car drivers and motorcycle riders. The term is respect everyone that uses the roadways and everyone will be better off.

Just as I have seen car drivers with headphones, that is also illegal. But on my opinion no worse than driving with the windows up and stereo so loud you cannot hear a car horn or emergency sirene.
