If I buy a New Steering Wheel.......
I looked at an excellent write up with pictures about swapping out the steering wheel switches. It gave me enough of an idea about what's involved with the whole procedure. I am looking at buying a new steering wheel because of the scratches put in mine by the body shop. I called and spoke with the owner about it. Big surprise his reply was....."it couldn't have happened here". WOW really? He even shot me down when I complained about the condition my car was in when it was returned to me (very dirty). He admitted it was perfect when I dropped it off and the detail guy made sure it was like that when I picked it up. Well then I guess the white powder on the roof is decoration and the 8 dirty microfiber towels and 4 regular towels are a figment of my imagination!!!! F^^KIN Dick! But I have no proof and I look like a guy trying to scam a free steering wheel off them. They did do an amazing job matching the orange metallic paint. Anyways, that's the story behind why I'm looking at a new steering wheel. I have a 2SS with cruise & radio controls on the steering wheel. My questions are...
I'll have to unplug everything on the old steering wheel (radio controls and cruise control) before I remove it . Will I have to have the controls re-programmed? In the write up the author talked about having Techline reprogram something. Can I just plug in my steering wheel wires to the cruise and radio controls of the new steering wheel? I think the steering wheel comes with the controls already in. The only thing I will change is the trim.....I'll get a custom painted one My steering wheel has the little "SS" on the bottom. Will this one have it to or do replacement wheels come without. Seems like a dumb question, but I haven't seen one GM steering wheel (replacement) yet with the little "SS". How hard is it to do a steering wheel swap? It doesn't look to bad, but there's enough little wires involved which makes pulling to hard and breaking a concern. Thanks. |
