Countdown Timer

************************************************** ************************************************** *****
WHAT IS WCOFF?

What is WCOFF?

WCOFF, sounds like the golfer's name, hehe, is short for West Coast Ol' Farts Fest - founded by C5'ers who met up in the OF thread - that's short for Ol' Farts. They wanted to get in their hot rides and meet up and go cruisin together, hang out, party....

OL' FART?!? ahahahahhahaha ok, I got that outta my system.....

Geeez....

Does that mean I have to be an Ol' Fart to join in the fun?

Oh, heck no. One of 'em insists she's 22 with lotso experience - even wrote out the math formula for it some time back, I think.

So, how old do I have to be?

Well ideally, street-legal, like your Camaro. Most important, is that you're a person who likes Camaros and likes other people who like Camaros. It's more attitude than anything else.

How often do people get together for WCOFF?

So far, they've only done it once. They just got home from Tahoe. They had so much fun, they can't wait to do it again. That's why we're here - to talk about WCOFF II in 2013.

And maybe even more people will join in for WCOFF II?

Yup.

So when is WCOFF II?

June 27th - July 1st, 2013, Wooohoooo! Now, where did I put that count-down clock?

So where is WCOFF II gonna happen?

Well, of the 3 locations that were considered, Northern Coastal California/Oregon is the selected location.

Cool!! Cruises, taking in the local atmosphere, having a good time?

Absolutely! And as we zero-in, we'll be reaching out to the locals on C5 for their advice, suggestions and support. Do you remember how important the Northern Nevada Crew was to WCOFF I?

Ab-so-lute-ly. WCOFF I wouldn'ta been the same without 'em. And we all made a bunch of new friends! Maybe some C5er's from Cali will join in the fun!

Maybe. And maybe Nevadans, Oregonians, Washington Camaro enthusiasts - heck, Camaro Lovers from all over the west - will join us.

Great! Is WCOFF only for 5th Gen Owners?

Heck no, WCOFF is open to all generations of Camaros and Firebirds!

COOOOL!!! You know what else would be really cool?

What?

If people from other parts of the country wanted to come to WCOFF II.

It'd be a bit of a trip, but they're welcome.

That's why there's jets and rental cars....

Hey Cowboy, I just got a question.

What's up Valley Girl?

Can people join just part of the cruise, like from Petaluma to Eureka?

Sure, since WCOFF II is a cruise event, people can join any or all legs of the cruise. We just need to know who'll be joining on specific days/locations.

Cooooool!

************************************************** ************************************************** **********
PSAs

All attendees should bring hand-held radios and chargers in addition to cell phones and chargers. Radios are critical for car-to-car communications during cruises.

For WCOFF'ers with extended driving distances, you may want to break the drive-in and drive-out into 2 days.
WCOFF is supposed to be fun and safe.
************************************************** ************************************************** **********

2013 ? Do you know how long away that is in dog years ? Need to drop the 'Ol' to. I'm in Nevada but live in the state of Denial. Something like the West Coast Fun Farts Fest II... I see no need to drop the bodily function reference though.. At my Ol' age, I'm glad to still have any bodily functions....

The Reno/Carson City/Tahoe area is a favored contender for 2013

Okay I will keep watch. If in that area again we would probably look at flying & renting a Camaro. A 2-3 days drive (not young enough to try that drive straight through) is a bit much for Ruby & Red Raider, but no doubt it is beautiful there and I'd love to see it up close & personal. For sure I'd love to meet & spend time with all of you guys & gals. As quickly as our group is growing, a better turnout might be had if the location were more central for everyone. Just sayin'.

First, Gary had to tell me what Gumball was...I'm Canadian, not old Jay mentioned south Utah...Can get some awesome pics there. Dragonfly has to go have cosmetic surgury due to the rub on his chinny chin chin...so no motels with dips.

OK, so I'm old and forgetful.... I know what a gumball is but I have no idea what movie this is referring to. Let me in on the inside info please.

"The Gumball Rally" was the movie.. I've seen it, but I had to google it to refresh my memory.

"Gumball" was the code word for a bunch of amateur racers to gather and prep their cars for a cross-country ralley.

The movie starts with "Gumball" and finishes with "Gumball," signifying the next race is on.

At about 1:12 you'll see the late, great Raul Julia delivering, arguably the best line from any car movie of this generation.

Enjoy.

I know that Linda, Jay, and I all brought up "more central" options for a get together MULTIPLE times on the old fart's thread. I know I mentioned Kansas City (which would have been a 30+ hour drive for me), for one... Every time we would mention it, we were either ignored or criticized. After 15+ times of our ideas being shot down, we decided to plan something for ourselves. It started as just the 3 of us, and grew to the 11 cars we ended up with.
There's LOTS of land west of the Mississippi - it seems as though some of you who live farther east tend to forget that....
It's been named the WEST Coast Old Fart's Fest, and it will remain somewhere relatively convenient for those of us out west...

FOCUS

OK, Let's refocus on the purpose of this thread.

Take all the stuff we learned planning, organizing and enjoying WYCOFF I and channel that into a bigger, better, more enjoyable (if that's even possible ) WYCOFF II.

I've been thinking Pacific Ocean for the next one. Astoria, Oregon at the mouth of the Columbia River, is one of my favorite places to visit. It's where Lewis and Clark reached the Pacific. Lots of things to see, historic buildings and houses, beautiful scenery, and water everywhere. Many movies have been filmed there. (Kindergarten Cop, Goonies, Short Circuit, to name a few.) There are beaches, a historic fort, lighthouses, and many other things within easy driving distance. We even have a C5 member we know that lives down there. He'd probably know many more things than I could come up with. I'm just throwing it out there. My feelings won't be hurt if it works out differently. There's still a considerable amount of time before we have to settle anything.Name: IMG_4432.jpg

I panicked for a minute and thought some one jacked my car and took it to Oregon for a joy ride; turns out to be another beatiful SIM Car

I remember passing through there on vacation when my kids were little. What a beautiful setting for a WCOFF II event. I for one would love a little road trip to a paradise like that!

If Astoria is too far north for some, we could also consider Coos Bay, Oregon....

Nice edit of post #1 Linda!
One thing to keep in mind in deciding the location... Josh said that maybe - and I'm sure it's a big maybe - with enough notice, we could get photo passes for the Topgun facility at NAS Fallon.... just a little more food for thought...
I think all those options sound great!
