6x9's or 6 1/2s?

I am going to replace my rear deck speakers, I have Rockford Fosgate 6x9s. Well, it appears that 100 watts of continuous power tore them up. So I am debating to go 6 1/2" or 6x9s? What is your guys recommendation?

The old school mentality is that an oval speaker is directional, and doesn't flex evenly. Many people believe that a modern oval speaker is just as good as a modern round speaker.

Assuming you believe the speaker is just as good, you can get a larger speaker, and better mid-bass out of a 6x9, compared to the 6.5.

Yes, I agree with the other guys. A 6x9" will give you even better overall range.
